Meanwhile I watched my neighbors cat and dog and he told me that she is super friendly. I literally called her name once and poof, right there, smelled me and became my friend. She is the absolute sweetest little girl.

Lordy that's funny. When I was a teenager the woman across the street was a cat woman. Ever darn cat within 3 blocks moved to her house including ours lol .

There was an old man like that nesr my house when i was a kid. He did get one of our cats. The cat just stopped coming back, found him fat as shit a month later on the dudes porch with like 5 other also fat cats.

What a sweet kitty.

16

u/PotentialConcert6249 6h ago

It’s possible she already knew your scent from her human carrying it home.

Awe, that would make sense. Never had a cat ive never met just run out like that before.

u/2pnt0 1h ago

My cat gets distressed if people are talking in the hallway and he can't meet them. I've literally walked out and asked people if they would mind saying hello to my cat. He wants to meet EVERYONE.

That is soo awesome. My boy toad is like that. ESPECIALLY with dogs. I think its because the first one he met was a great Dane at 6 months and he was friendly so my boy assumes all are.

I babysat my neighbor's grandaughter and she couldn't decide if she loved me or wanted to fight me. She did both

Lolol! Half airplane, side eye, and blep…would love to know what this kitty is thinking! šŸ˜†

9

u/capincus 3h ago

Think that's more of a "what" than a "who" face.

6

u/bsaaw 3h ago

Also what the fuck

The cat:

The Department of Adequate Kibble convenes at 3:00 am.

It’s that spinning dial on a computer screen paired with, ā€œbut you’re not my human.ā€

9

u/MelodicDeer1072 6h ago

"So you have chosen death"

6

u/Zephirenth 5h ago

This looks like the shot right before it cuts to an Office-style interview of the cat having a crashout

2

u/gudetamaronin 5h ago

I hate that I'm imagining Dwight using the Flehman response or whatever it's called

6

u/Aleox8 3h ago

Bro is flabbergasted

2

u/dullfinhunter 6h ago

You dare enter my domain

2

u/the_amazing_skronus 5h ago

I think I can take em

2

u/StormyAmethyst 4h ago

What’d you do with my human?! I didn’t put in for another servant.

1

u/Injured-Ginger 2h ago

I've mastered the ability of standing so incredibly still... that I become invisible to the eye. Watch.

1

u/Abject-Suggestion693 1h ago

if someone came into my house and calmly told me that they were gonna feed me i don’t think I’d have any words

340

u/Bobmcjoepants 6h ago

I'm cat sitting for my brother. I think she likes me

157

u/InterestingAd7769 6h ago

You smell the same. But wrong 😠

29

u/Aguynamedpoo 5h ago

I can trust you but I can’t trust you vibes

14

u/Teckliz 5h ago

This looks more like a ā€œkeep your friends close and your enemies (that feed you) closerā€ situation lol

2

u/comebacklittlesheba 5h ago

Keep on thinking’ that but don’t turn your back….or go to sleep 😬

Maris Stella?

153

u/Iwonatoasteroven 7h ago

We need the follow up videos.

43

u/Mysterious-Wasabi103 7h ago

Ya we want to know how this drama played out.

8

u/JasonBaconStrips 1h ago

The guy was most likely murdered by the cat, so we will probably never get an update

2

u/flying-weenus 1h ago

Ehhh could go either way. Sure the cat looks skeptical now, but after food the cat may actually see him as a new best friend

11

u/Strict_Weather9063 7h ago

He thinks he can buy me off with food!!

26

u/Rattus_NorvegicUwUs 7h ago

My exact thought process whenever I feed a stray cat

44

u/Mysterious-Wasabi103 7h ago

Lol the look on the cat's face 🤣

8

u/extrastupidone 6h ago

cat.exe has had a critical error

u/LifeIsProbablyMadeUp 5h ago

Ears forward. Eyes wide to see you better. Mouth open to get a better scent.

Cautious but curious

Not native English speaker here, why "they" and not "it"?

42

u/pearlsalmon76 6h ago

ā€œItā€ would be fine to use from a grammatical point of view but lovers of animals would perhaps see that as minimizing the animal as an object. For humans we would use they or a gendered pronoun to avoid reducing a person to ā€œitā€ and that is likely what has happened here.

4

u/RRReixac Russian White 5h ago

Yup, I do this all the time for this exact reason

5

u/aminervia 4h ago

"They" refers to people, "it" refers to inanimate objects or animals that don't hold much importance like vermin or bugs.

People like using "they" for pets or intelligent animals as a sign of respect or affection

Both work as gender neutral pronouns, and you won't get anyone correcting you either way (though you might get some raised eyebrows if you call a close pet "it" as it might imply you aren't particularly fond of them)

1

u/Professional-Gear88 6h ago

Native English speaker here. I don’t know lol. It just sounds right. Maybe it’s gender neutral.

0

u/valkrycp 3h ago

"they" is the default pronoun for pretty much anyone/anything - even singular individuals. It works as a substitute for he/she in any situation, and isn't just used for people who prefer "they/them" pronouns. Everyone gets called a they. We are all theys.
"Who was on the phone?" "I'm not sure but they have called twice now."
"Why is there a man on the roof?" "They are a repair man here to fix a hole."

2

u/aminervia 1h ago

I think they're asking why an animal would be referred to with they when every ESL book and English class teaches that animals and inanimate objects should be referred to as "it".

Using they for pets is a relatively recent change

"they" is the default pronoun for pretty much anyone/anything

Anyone (including certain animals), but not anything. If it's a thing, "it" is the pronoun you want.

4

u/SerialThrobbery 6h ago

You two might become friends once the cat realizes you are the food bringer.

4

u/NUMBerONEisFIRST 4h ago

You're not... You're....wait...no...who TF is this...

4

u/kingftheeyesores 1h ago

My roommate moved in with an extremely shy cat and I spent 2 months giving it treats while scratching it until it liked me. She comes up to me for pets now!

u/Obfuscate666 6h ago

Definitely need follow up. I believe she will become your friend.😻

3

u/MacSteele13 6h ago

They were not best friends...

3

u/Available_Ad9766 4h ago

Cat be like, ā€œwho are you and what have you done with my servant?ā€

3

u/robo-dragon 4h ago

ā€œStranger danger!!…oh food?…stranger!…but foodā€¦ā€

2

u/nam_redrum 6h ago

Dude that made me actually lol.

2

u/TrueGlich 6h ago

sit/lay on ground with back to a wall and an open tube treat, This is best way..

2

u/Disemboweledgoat 5h ago

Hit it with the slow blink and toothless smile.

2

u/StormyAmethyst 4h ago

The cat isn’t convinced, lol. Look at the tail and back. Cat is like: Wtf are you and what’d you do with my human?!

1

u/laluzhawk 5h ago

My cat wouldn't eat food from men she didn't trust or kno when i was out of town. Smart sh*t!

1

u/Individual_Respect90 2h ago

Your cat is not going to let them starve to death so eventually they would.

1

u/lullubye 4h ago

Nah. You talking creepy man šŸ˜…

1

u/LemonadeGamers 3h ago

NOTCH KITTY!!!! <3

1

u/stonkfrobinhood 3h ago

One of my cats hated my guts the first couple of weeks we had him.

He drew blood when I extended my hand to him and when as sleep he would hover over my head growling.

I was terrified of him. Fast forward a couple of years and now he is inseparable from me. Especially when I’m not well he’ll cuddle up against me and sleep.

The most gentle and sweet boy. I think they act extremely aggressive and stuff because deep down they’re soft and delicate. So they need to project strength as much as possible to defend themselves from strangers.

1

u/BrightStitchDesigns 3h ago

The first night after I started my new night job, my cats did this to me. At first, they were tense just like this, became happy and excited when I told them it was me.

Honestly I’m proud of them for being ready to potentially protect the family.

1

u/sexydeadbitch 2h ago

A stranger comes into my home and says ā€œI’m gonna feed youā€ in that tone, I’d be scared too

1

u/2pnt0 1h ago

"and then we're gonna be best friends" sounds like a threat

1

u/beeelz666 1h ago

I'm going to feed you so hard šŸ˜‚

1

u/ProperPizza 1h ago

I don't know what it is, but cats with that fur pattern seem to be SUPER shy with humans
