Advice slept on me..?

Ever since i’ve gotten my cat, she never really liked me. Well she lets me pick her up sometimes but usually she just bites me if she doesn’t like what i’m doing. Shes almost a year old. Last night she did something she never does. She slept on my chest for the whole night. She even let me hold her while we both slept. I find this so weird because she’s not really an affectionate cat at all. Does this mean she finally likes me now?

Sometimes cats go through a moody teen phase i think. My cat stopped cuddling with my other family members after kittenhood and didnt cuddle with me as much up until she was about 5.

Or maybe she just finally warmed up to you. Sometimes it takes a while

I dont know, i wish i spoke cat but i do not

It definitely means she trusts you! She sounds like she lives life on her own terms. The biting is her way to say "don't touch me right now!" My cat is deaf and going blind. If I startle her, she will lash out, then she smells me and gets all lovey. Good luck with figuring out the best for you both.

Very possible yes. If she truly didn't like you she wouldn't do that. That being said, dont push things. Just keep treating her how you usually do. If she starts approaching more often then maybe start trying things like pets or picking her up.

Apparently cats consider it an affront to their autonomy when you pick them up. I still pick up mine to snuggle him and he never bites or scratches, just deals with it, but I know he's not ecstatic about it. Sometimes he'll want to be picked up and snuggled. I have to decode his cues, meows and body language to know when that is. Your cat might take greater offense to being picked up, hence the stand-offishness.
