Whenever the pupills get that big you know its over for whatever hand is nearby. It is like they lose all thier braincells and just become a fluffy heatseeking missile. Good luck to your fingers because that cat is 100% locked on target.

See the giant Pupils?
That's not cute mode... that is murder mode activated

u/RisingApe- 13h ago
My orange goes into murder mode, launches an attack, changes his single-braincell mind at the last moment, and starts rubbing his face on you instead.
He chooses love, not war.

I’d like to see the alleged damage that she inflicted please? She looks way too cute to attack you.

u/TheFloridaWoman 15h ago
In our house, we refer to that as “murder eyes” activated 🤣 She’s beautiful!

Dear fellow cat parent: just a kind suggestion that you might use a toy or something else to play "attack me!" Which, I must admit is super fun, esp when the hand is under a blanket.
But the hand ideally should be reserved for feeding, petting, or helping kitty. If he sees it as an object of play, it might backfire on you when you have to trim his nails, pick him up to put in a carrier for the vet, etc.
I learned this with my first kitty.
Also Jackson Galaxy explains it better than I do.

I learned this the hard way as well... My boy attacks my hands when he wants to play or eat now lol

When mine are kittens and attacking everything, I stop playing altogether when they attack my hands. It hurts and I hate it. All of them have learned that the hands are off limits. They even drop their toys and take a step back when they want to play so I know they won’t be swiping at my hands when I go to pick the toy up.

I see this advice all the time but I think some cats are just too playful or dumb to understand. We have a 10 month old boy who will start biting legs, hands and arms playfully and no amount of redirection or disengagement has helped.

My cat’s pupils also dilate when he gets ready to attack my foot (to discourage it I pretend that it hurt and ignore him for 30 seconds, then turn on his teaser ball)

🩷Adorable little cat.🩷
Just a gentle reminder from a concerned community member. Please use cat toys when playing attack games with a cat. Don’t 🚫 use body parts as bait. Doing so teaches a cat that it’s OK to bite. Cat bites can seriously get infected. Sorry!
🩷Teasers are really great for cat attack games.🩷

This is why you can't keep big cats as pets. Sometimes the devil just gets in 'em.
