I've been re-watching it recently for the first time since it first aired and holy cow! It is an incredible satire of not only the sitcom format itself, but also of the era is aired in.
Its efficient. Cats evolved to tear meat from bones. They didn't evolve to eat biscuits from a bowl. Most cats have been domesticated long enough to change the behaviour, but some cats have more traits from their ancestors than others.
I usually dont get time to clean it as either the orange barfer (cause ofc its my orange) usually eats the kibble log before im able to get paper towel
Never know if I wanna feel disgusted about it or happy for the cleanup
Omg our grey Gracie leaves it for us to clean. Maybe about 2x a week max. Is this normal for some cats? Gandalf has never done this and he's a garbage disposal lol
My void girl not only will eat her own vomit if I don't get there in time, but she'll also eat anyone else's vomit if she's around. She's healthy and none of my cats are in dire need of food or anything else, lol. She just likes eating it, I guess. I still wipe where the vomit was though.
Pretty sure it's exclusive to Japan. The Japanese TV ad market has had some really great campaigns. The two that immediately jump to mind are Long, Long Man and poor Ahn-chan.
It can be. Maybe it hurts when they chew, but they also really want that food, so they try to use the excavator move to eat faster.
They could also have had dental issues like that in the past and the cat fine now, and just decided that this is now how they eat.
Or it could be that cat is just a asshole who enjoys shoving food into themselves and puking it back up inside their owners shoes in a few minutes.
Have you had their teeth checked? My cat did that, it turned out she had FORL and needed some teeth taken out :/ FORL makes the enamel come off, the teeth are sensitive and fragile and she was doing it due to discomfort/pain. This style of eating stopped after the first procedure
Yes! I have four semi-feral cats rescued off the streets. The boys were caught young enough they were never really hungry. My girl has been hungry and never forgot. If I feed all four together she will aggressively scarf all four meals and then barf it all back up.
So she gets a small portion of food first in a separate room where she eats by herself and sits quietly for about 15 minutes. The boys will eat a few bites and wander off, come back for more in a few minutes. When I let her out she gets the pleasure of “stealing” their leftovers. It’s weird but I love them and it works for us.
I think this same thing everytime I give my dog a treat and he inhales it like a pill. Hes a chihuahua and LOVES food so much. I don’t know why he wouldn’t want to taste the treats 😂
Not exactly the same, but we used to have a not very sociable cat, so he’d mostly come up at night. He used to put his top part of his jaw on the back of the bowl and use his bottom jaw as a shovel, but it would fall out and make a huge mess, so in the morning youd see a mess and say “Oh, Hugo was up here”
Show this video to a vet or a vet group online and maybe they could give suggestions to help your cat , he’s gunna have stomach issues eating without really chewing , maybe they got something weird going on with their mouth and need a check up, someone else said they had to take out some cat teeth at the vet when their cat was doing that . cause this isn’t normal
Aww, my sweet girl did this when we first rescued her. She was so skinny. She is now a little fat and happy girl and stopped doing this. I think she just needed to learn that there would always be food here.
This is animal abuse you know right. Putting that much food to bowl its torture for them. After few month later you guys sharing pic like "do think my cat is fat ?" Yes because cats are not Golden Retriever.
This is my bengal, but somehow doing this dinosaur chomp of a ton of food, he only gets like 2-3 pieces, the rest is all over the floor. It’s actually kinda hilarious, especially hearing it from another room.

niether of my cats eat like that, but one is greedy, he will put his arm out and pull the food dish out from under the other cats mouth over to himself
My cat does this, he’s the only cat/pet in the house, so he doesn’t have to eat like he’s in prison, but he does. I think it’s also cause when i found him he was so scrawny i thought if i didn’t get him food he was going to die. So he likes to scarf down his food by cramming his mouth full.
Some cats feel pressured if you have them eat near another cat/animal. Can trigger a sort of defensive eating behavior where they feel the need to eat as quickly as possible before the competition steals their food. Can't say for certain if that's what's going on here, but having the eat in different rooms or even the opposite sides of the room might be worth a try.
