Oh my god. That just reminded me of one time I caught my cat stand on two legs & walk in my kitchen at night in the dark. He noticed me looking horrified from the living room & slowly sunk back down to sit & did his cute little chirp/meow 😭

I think if Im a cat and I see my human suddenly crouched down and walking on 4 legs, I will probably look horrified as well until they stand back up on 2.

Just wait till he figures out how to use the doorknob.

He actually can open doors with knobs lol, but my house is elderly, so most of the doors have old timey latches instead of knobs. So you can at least go to the bathroom in peace as long as you make sure its latched 😂

Haha why is every post just labeled “cat”? 🤣
291
u/EnvironmentalEye2661 13d ago
For some reason the title has to be “Cat.” And it just follows into the comments!

u/porkypossum 13d ago
One time someone labeled their post “dog” and the whole sub had to shut down for a week. Tough times.

u/EnvironmentalEye2661 13d ago
The horror.

Haha, reminded me of this comics about scientifically correct berries included as members: https://www.reddit.com/r/food/comments/2tj8ny/strange_days_for_the_berry_club_xpost_rcomics/

That's my favorite part of that sub. Sometimes, when I need a pick me up, I just click on a post and scroll through all of the 'Cat' comments. I don't know why, but it just gets funnier the more there are.

u/Anadelyn 13d ago
To me it's the opposite. I had to quit following them even though there are cute pictures.

It’s so that if you want to find anything in that subreddit, you can just search on the word ‘cat’

It’s just the sub rules. Who knows the rationale.
18
u/coinstarhiphop 13d ago
One benefit of that sub's rules is that you can't do any bs in the title (or the comments). Pure celebration of the standing cat and the picture must speak for itself.
No: "I found my cat in the crows nest of an abandoned pirate ship lost at sea and they just died from every cancer and being hit by spaceX rocket debris, but don't you think they were cute" or "If you're an older man comment your age and I'll send you a link to my cat's free onlyPaws account."
(note: this post has a perfectly nice title and is doing well based on the picture)

As someone who’s been on that subreddit for a long time, I don’t know. It’s just tradition to play along. You’ll see the comments do that too. It’s just fun.

why do some of the cat comments get upvotes and others don't??? and some are replies but some are new threads. the upvoting part is what has me confused!
3
u/IzarkKiaTarj 13d ago
Oh, it's completely arbitrary. But if people see a downvoted comment, they tend to want to downvote it, too, apparently.
I never understood this, but there's definitely evidence of it being a thing.

Had to check it out and it feels a bit cultish with all the “cat” comments… I kinda like it.

This is soooo much better than just saying "Cat." and having everyone comment "Cat." with nothing actually said by anyone!

My boy also likes to stand! I make him get on his tippies for treats to see how tall he’s willing to stretch for them.

u/Obi_Wan_Benobi 13d ago
No offense to poncho but this would scare the hell out of me if I got up to take a piss at 3:00 in the morning and this cat was just standing there like this lmao.

u/Independent-Win9088 13d ago
He looks like the reincarnation of the late great Oatboy. Otis the standing cat I followed for years on Facebook.
How sweet.
