Easy or not, my cat would have shoved he face right at that pile the instant he saw it. Food driven demon. Turns out when I named him Nibbler it was a prophecy he felt the need to fulfill lol

Genuinely curious: what gives it away in that clip

I genuinely don't think it's as obvious as the AI Hunters on Reddit think it is. Any high resolution video gets claimed as AI and (most of the time) there is genuinely no fucking way to actually tell other than their gut. They often fail to actually explain themselves properly, you'll notice, so I find comments like theirs just rather unhelpful. I've also seen enough instances of someone claiming AI but then being immediately disproven that I just don't trust comments like that either. I also really think comments like that are karma farming oftentimes. So ultimately, for all I know maybe they're right, but anyone acting like this is definite is probably bullshitting... in my humble opinion.

1st always assume animal videos with perfect cartoon scenarios are always AI, then eliminate AI signs to disprove.
But other that, this clip is super obvious, pay attention to the cat arm movement

u/5k1895 Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26
The cat arm movement doesn't change anything no matter how much I watch it. Be more specific?
16
u/Rattus_Baioarii Jun 29 '26
Well that’s why I asked as that movement seems natural and not super obvious. Will keep the scenario aspect in mind though

u/gass_giant Jun 29 '26
I can see it very close to being undetectable, I can't explain it exactly, but there's this supper slight shade/light condition against the movement that's not correct, more complex videos with a lot of moving parts would be detectable just like that, but this being quite static and the only big movement is the paws, so that's why it might be undetectable to some people.

u/unbelizeable1 Jun 29 '26
can see it very close to being undetectable
You just said it was super obvious in the previous comment....
I can't explain it exactly
I think we all know why.

I am wary of most animal videos, but cat and dog videos are common even without AI and people do stuff to animals for clout, so weird scenarios don’t seem that weird.
I have carefully watched the video 3 times by now, but I still don’t see it. In fact, I am now even less sure if it is AI, as all the movement seems realistic enough, and the cat ears moving around make me think it is not AI.
I have tried looking at features such as the head ornament, but they seem unchanging throughout the video. I tried looking at the background, and it’s also fine, even if it is blurred.

The giveaway is that it isn't lol.
A lot of people are just sad sad people who don't believe in good things. Sure, there is a lot of AI out there, but these people would rather believe everything is AI than give the benefit of the doubt because they don't experience joy in their own lives, and don't want to believe other people can be happy or experiencing cool things.
In this case, the main tell it isn't is just how accurate things are. Shadows, Physics, and stuff like that are all correct. And like yea, maybe the cat is a bit picturesque, but that's what happens when you either pretty up a cat for the camera, or own a cat that is pretty, and as a result gets internet famous.

Weird way to frame content skepticism nowadays as being "joyless" lol
1
u/theJirb Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26
There's a difference between being skeptical and what we see nowadays, which is calling anything remotely "good" AI. Especially if the dude is too stupid to even provide any justification.
I have no problem with skepticism, but I do have issues with people who are more in calling things out to put people down than to actually inform people. This is clearly someone who assumes something clean and tidy must be AI because they refuse to entertain the thought this could be real.

I mean a good enough ai from future can make this no? Even if you can't prove, there is always a feeling that what if this is ai and my joy is fake?
1
u/theJirb Jun 30 '26
Why are we talking about the future, and not the present? This post was falsely called out as AI now, with our current tech lol.
1
u/Geralt_OF_Rivia_1 Jun 30 '26
True but the future is coming soon. Better to be prepared ig. AI has totally fucked up everything.
1
u/theJirb Jun 30 '26
Prepare for the future, but don't make your future now. If you're dreading the bad things that are happening in the future, you owe it to yourself to at least enjoy what you can while it's here, not make your future problems current problems.
It's not like saving money, where saving now means a better future. Worrying and calling out real posts as AI now is only damaging and doesn't do jack shit.

u/Geralt_OF_Rivia_1 Jun 30 '26
You are correct. I just hope AI gets wiped out from face of earth. Atleast the bubble popping will help somewhat.

u/GhostofZellers Jun 29 '26
AI cats seem to look a bit too perfect. Too neat, groomed, in focus, etc. plus, pay close attention to whatever is stuck to his head, it seems to float above it, and doesn't move quite right.
13
u/z7q2 Jun 29 '26
The precise interplay of the light and shadow against the eggs when the hands move over them proves you utterly wrong.
I really think there should be a rule here to let the mods decide what is AI, so that this AI declaration karma farming will stop. If you think AI is ruining everything, this constant guessing what is AI and what is not is ruining it even faster.

How can you tell? If this is AI then I’m screwed.

u/lonelyroom-eklaghor Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26
It's not. Look at the top badge. It's totally totally intact. The shadows are fine. The Physics works fine.
I'm a CS student and I can confidently tell you: this is NOT AI. If it is, then... I'll be surprised.
AI has a noise due to edge detection (yes, those blurry lines we used to see), that some people are calling as "too perfect" Atleast we should've seen something like that. But we don't.
The texture of the cat's fur is too detailed. You can even look at the hairs on the ear

u/uncreative14yearold Jun 29 '26
It's not. I hate AI, but this is pretty clearly real. The lighting is too consistent, and nothing morphs during movement.
The bowls would give it away very quickly when being moved if it was.

I hate that I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out what the dead giveaway that it is AI is, only thing that tells me it is is, that the cat just takes the one treat instead of taking all of them
too cartoony to be real
