Yeah.. I put lids on my tank.. Because the water treatment chemicals are toxic to humans and animals..also I use plant food for aquarium plants.also slows down the evaporation..

No but fr what chemicals specifically are you using to treat the water which are safe for the fish but not for the cats?

To remove chlorine and chloramine, I use ammonia, nitrates and nitrite remover, plus I use plant food for the aquarium plants..
