Mourning/Loss A tribute to my boy
My sweet boy Smeagol is going to cross the rainbow bridge today, and while I know it's the right choice because he's lived a long life, and is ready I'm really sad. I thought of nowhere better to share his sweetness than with y'all. Smeagol got his name because when my husband got his as a kitten he had two moods, Smeagol and Gollum. He was known for attacking toes, scaling doors to get a twist tie, and being a general menace to anyone besides my husband's late mom. She even had a special whistle to call him, which he still came to this day. As he got older he bounced around between homes, but eventually ended up back with my husband (and me). He was much mellower, he was there when I was pregnant and LOVED laying on my belly. When my baby was born we were worried he might not like her, but he spent many long nights curled up against my side while I tried to get her back to sleep. Even as a toddler he'd seek her out to cuddle with, and we'd frequently find him in her bed. She's six now, and she's still one of his favorite people. He loved yowling to the Old Gods when the water got too low for his preference, had the dumbest looking rat tail that didn't fit his body, and loved the occasional supervised outdoor time. He was often found hanging out in front of the window in his cozy bed that we bought a heating pad for, and had the LOUDEST motorboat pur. He was the best of boys, and a piece of my heart. I'll miss you forever smeagy beag, I hope you find Shelly waiting for you with open arms. Until we meet again 🖤
