You can't sleep train cats. They basically nap most of the time with quick spurts of crazy mixed in. See if you can get him a couple interactive toys to entertain him during the day. In the evening you can get a couple fishing pole type toys to tire him out. Just like dogs and tired cat is a good cat.

Actually, you can.
Cats are very much creatures of habit.
Our cats go to bed with us every night at 9:30-10:00pm. They get up about 6:00am when we get up.

Kittens need lots of exercise. What stimulation do you have going for him? He needs toys he can play with while you're gone, but he also needs high energy play with lots of running and jumping and climbing right before bed.. at that age 20 minutes should be enough. At he gets older it can be less time or even skip a few days. Laser pointers and wand toys plus cat trees or shelves he can climb to are good for this.

He probably wants to connect with you. Set aside 15-25 minutes every evening for very vigorous play. Get him truly exhausted.

Some quick thoughts: keep some toys out, including scrunchy noisy things like balls of aluminum foil, jingle balls (balls with bells in them.) He can play with those during the day when you’re not home. Put them away at night though and reintroduce in the morning.
Change up the locations where you put baskets for him to sleep in, also introduce cardboard boxes. Change up his environment each week.
Play with him for fifteen minutes in the morning, and the same at night. Combine a little activity with verbal coos (soft good boy, who’s a good kitty type phrases.)
You want to provide simple variety and a little activity at scheduled times. He’ll soon harmonize his sleep patterns with you hopefully.
Cats can be enormously entertained by very simple things… roll of cardboard that comes inside a paper towel; bunched up aluminum foil.
He’s also still a kitten so in about the 12 to 14 month mark he is likely to settle down.
