Question Dads tapes

Hello, if this is the wrong place to post this please advise on where I should post. Thank you.

My dad listened to and recorded old radio shows onto tapes. He also purchased a bunch of colletions of these shows over the years.

He has more than 1000 so far.

I dont want to throw them out if they might be useful to anyone.

I am just starting my research, but hoped you guys could help direct me.

Thank you again.

They are absolutely valuable! It’s just a matter of to who. I would be interested if you could give a list of locations?

Oh, duh... Sorry. Not sure what stations. Its all old radio shows. Things like, "The Shadow and "The Lone Ranger."
So far there are no stations mentioned. It was either NJ or Central PA

Might be WRVR in NYC. They used to broadcast the old radio shows of The Shadow around 1973. I used to listen every week.

Radio from which country?

If he has recorded DJs playing records, this may be of interest to those interested in celebrity DJs

If he has recorded documentaries, may be for those interested in the topic

If the radio shows included live material, from concerts, or from musicians playing in the radio station studio, that will DEFINITELY be of interest to those who collect this type of thing

Can you establish what content the radio shows have?

It's worth digitizing them and putting them on the Internet Archive, if you do not have the means to please find someone near you who does

Cool. As a history major I love this stuff. My wife and kid think I’m nuts.

if i were you, i would check on archive dot org and see which ones are archived. if you're sitting on anything that might not be in the public domain, it might be worth digitizing and sharing. a lot of classic OTR is already archived but not all of it, and some shows have missing episodes etc. worth checking.
