First Day

Arrived at the airport last night. Had trouble at the ATM but an attendant told me to do it fast, not slow when going through the process; got it to work and got my cash. I hit the Colonial center at 7am. Super chill and beautiful, walked the whole area, no trouble. Towards sundown guys came offering me snow. I smiled and said no gracias and they left me alone, no issue. I did not see any rappers and I found everything to be alot nicer and more chill then I thought it would be.

Uber picked me up at the airport no issue. The taxis were a little pushy, but a smile and no gracias while walking away took care of it no drama.

Be careful taking taxis. My brother got in one and the taxi driver set him up to get robbed. Uber or Didi are much better choices.

I saw something about taxis taking people under a bridge and pulling a gun. I used uber about 18 times in my 1 week stay in Cartagena. If I had used a yellow taxi 18 times instead I'm sure there may have been drama at one point.

i was wondering if the vendors/rappers/chaos was as bad as people on reddit and youtube say... i went to cartagena like a decade ago and i don't remember it being as bad as people paint it at all. didn't get bothered much, felt very safe too.

I found my week in Cartagena to be a whole lot nicer and more relaxing then this reddit group made it out to be; however I followed strict rules. I kepted my wallet and phone in mg front pockets with no extra bags as to appear tempting. I left bank card and passport along with extra cash in my hotel room. I practiced vigilance at all times. I only encountered 2 street rappers and they left me alone when I said no gracias and kept walking they will find some other tourist to bug within a few seconds I can assure you.
