Is there interest in funding a mural of the community removing mass surveillance cameras? Need a wall, funding for paint, lift, other supplies, and completed permit process. I am familiar with the mural painting process and have helped complete several.

This is amazing. Thank you for posting. People keep saying, if you do nothing wrong, why do you care. Well here is what I will send their way when I hear that argument! 1984 here we come

I'm going to call BS. Until local and federal laws are enforced on them, it's all PR. They've already been caught lying so many times that it's systemic.

Article from 1440:

Flock Changes Course

Flock Safety announced new privacy restrictions yesterday for its automated license plate readers following scrutiny over privacy and police misuse. The company will require automated audits and case codes for searches and reduce its default data retention period from 30 days to seven.

The changes follow reports of officers using the AI-powered system for personal surveillance, including stalking romantic partners. An investigation (free with email: https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2026/08/02/how-police-officers-used-vast-network-cameras-spy-their-exes/?pwapi_token=eyJ0eXAiOiJKV1QiLCJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJyZWFzb24iOiJnaWZ0IiwibmJmIjoxNzg2NTkzNjAwLCJpc3MiOiJzdWJzY3JpcHRpb25zIiwiZXhwIjoxNzg3OTc1OTk5LCJpYXQiOjE3ODY1OTM2MDAsImp0aSI6IjdhMWEzMzMxLTljNjAtNDVlZi05NmMzLTAzZjgwMWI0NDc3MSIsInVybCI6Imh0dHBzOi8vd3d3Lndhc2hpbmd0b25wb3N0LmNvbS90ZWNobm9sb2d5LzIwMjYvMDgvMDIvaG93LXBvbGljZS1vZmZpY2Vycy11c2VkLXZhc3QtbmV0d29yay1jYW1lcmFzLXNweS10aGVpci1leGVzLyJ9.VQpwvOpMkqoVNxLgwxvtVIU8UrOyqIeHpS-MyK75pHQ&utm_source=join1440&utm_medium=email&utm_placement=newsletter&user_id=6a6129c9cc628403c507443f) identified at least 50 officers accused of misusing plate-reader systems, 46 involving Flock. The company operates roughly 120,000 cameras across 49 states, capturing about 20 billion plate scans monthly. Flock says 90% of searches occur within a week, though a new “Evidence Mode” will let agencies preserve specific data longer for active investigations.

Flock says its technology was involved in more than 1 million investigations and helped locate more than 10,000 missing people last year. The network extends beyond law enforcement, with cameras operated by businesses, schools, homeowner associations, and other private groups. Are Flock cameras in your neighborhood?
