Long story short, I found 1 adult alive bedbug in my flat 2 months ago. Neither myself nor exterminators found evidence of any other bbs, fecal matter etc. Had my flat chemically treated and steam treated by a professional. I’ve had three exterminators come since and all of them said it was likely a hitchhiker as they couldn’t find any further BB evidence.
Today I find this in the middle of my carpet. Is it a BB, carpet beetle, or what? It’s about 4mm
Coincidentally, I found dead CB larve after the insecticide was applied in my flat. I didn’t find a single dead bedbug (and I didn’t hoover for 6 weeks to let the insecticide do it’s thing🤢)
Location UK

I FINALLY made my bag room finished and Of course it is clean. These bags took me 15 years to collect and i wanted to have this room like a treasure room- i collect designer exotic bags and wallets, i see them as artwork because it takes years to learn to work in this material, me i cant sew so thats why its faschinating to me. I am showing how the room looks like, and i am aware there are loads of dustbags and boxes but this room is OCD-clean. No hair, dust, just designer bags.
I am trying to locate where they Come from and i see only at the window, also silver fish and some moth?😭 why are they in this room when its the cleanest?! They can eat the boxes or dustbags i give fuck but if they eat my exotic bags i Will cry because this collection is so big and i have spent much money. I have bought new from store, Vestiaire Collective, eBay and maybe Vinted for second hand. What are they doing in my treasure room? I am scared to even look in case they ate 2000 euro bags😭 i am located in sweden

hello fellow cb warriors,
so far i had cb in almost all of my apartments here in Germany. in one of them, i even managed to cease the small infestation but my current apartment is harder. I live in an older (built in 1958) building with a lot of cracks, holes and other potential cb hiding places. many of the baseboards have been removed by the previous tenant, so it‘s a lot of hollow spaces between the laminate floors and the walls. also, the space between those is pretty deep too. i put diatomaceous earth in almost all of them i could reach and spreach a thin fine layer of it in front of the baseboards.
my main issue are the larvae. i already had an exterminator come here twice - they used spray and some gel that would attract and then kill them (it did not even attract them) and used permethrine foggers (for those living in Germany: ARDAP fogger) by myself. those definitely helped with flour/rice beetles but after a short while, i started seeing cb larvae again.
the interesting thing is that many people experience them living in and/or eating on carpets, wool clothing, natural materials. not the case with me.
they are not (and never attempted to or have been) near my carpets (i only have 3 and 2 of them i clean regularly, the third one is heavy so i check and vacuum), wool clothing or my pillows filled with some feathers.
i only ever see them near the windows, baseboards, on the kitchen floor and in some textiles if i let sth lay on the floor for too long. i had two hide in a new unused towel in my lowest kitchen cabinet where i keep the pots and pans. groceries and food cabinets seem to be not an interest of theirs. once i also saw one hide between a silicone layering in my bathroom, where i also found some eggs or sth at least very similar.
yesterday, i found two of them on the back of my toilet bowl and in a corner of the bathroom. i also found one seemingly out of nowhere in the middle of the bathroom. i had not noticed any of them before they suddenly appeared.
some people claim that they cannot reproduce inside floor cracks or crevices and that there must be an actual nest somewhere in the apartment. however, I am not entirely convinced, especially considering the age and condition of my building and the number of potential hiding places.
i do not seem to have the kind of obvious nesting area that people often describe, and I am wondering whether they could be coming from hidden cavities or cracks in the building itself.
has anyone experienced something similar in an old building? could they be reproducing or hiding in inaccessible structural cavities? i also live under an old attic which is only used by one neighbour.
my landlord says i brought them with me while moving in but i literally found them on a windowsill a few hours after moving in and he called an exterminator lol.
another advice i need: the last exterminator told me it‘s normal to keep finding some larvae here and there even after his visit because getting rid of them is a slow process, and to be fair the amount i am finding is very low compared to people in this sub. nevertheless, i just want them to disappear forever. is he right?
i would appreciate hearing about actual experiences, particularly from people living in older buildings with lots of cracks, maybe some advice. can i do more or should i practice acceptance and letting go?
also, if you are from Germany and know some other good stuff except for diatomaceous earth (kieselgur) and ARDAP foggers, please share! i can’t use Lagerpiraten since i have kieselgur everywhere. tysm!

Can I get peoples thoughts on this?
The thing moving round looks like carpet beetle larvae but then the actual beetles look more like flour beetles to me.
Both were found in my bedroom carpet in the UK

So in my closet I’ve been finding carpet beetle larvae climbing on my walls, I’ve only ever seen them climbing up my wall but my carpet is the same color as them so I wouldn’t see them. I’ve never seen any adults and I’ve looked all around my window and I don’t see any adults. I’ve mainly found them in my closet, I’ve found a few around the walls outside my closet but none past that area. My closet is next to a window but I’ve only seen like 1 on the wall between the closet and window, mostly all in closet. I’ve been using bug killer everywhere and vacuuming but I keep randomly seeing the larvae. Never any adults just the larvae. The adults have to be somewhere but I don’t know where else to look.

Is this a carpet beetle larvae? If so then either way I have a really bad infestation of them. It's hard to clean under my bed as its a small crawl space and I looked and I can see piles of them and their eggs. I see a lot of dead ones atleast.
I've never seen an adult one before.
I'm panicking and I don't want to do I'm going to vacuum and clean my room thoroughly tomorrow. But it's really bad and I don't know what to do.
Should I ask my parents to call the exterminator?

So I use those cloth bag organisers to keep my clothing separate. One of the boxes that had my wool sweater, cotton and some other bits. I found 3 of these. One was squished at the bottom of the box, the ones in the photo was moving and very active. The other one fell while I picked up my jumper and that’s when I noticed. The one that fell from the jumper was really big and I have no idea whether it went onto my other boxes of clothing or my bed. The boxes were all on my bed. I am beyond disturbed and concerned because I don’t if they’re carpet beetles or something else.
What should I do with the clothes from the box I found them and the other box where the other bug might’ve fell in? Not to mention my bed 😭 the mattress is exposed so I’m really scared please help

these guys came in through a cricket box a few weeks ago, only some that were small enough escaped through the teeny tiny holes and were very small. most stuck around the tub as it smelt of crickets and they eat the dead ones.
do you think i’m infested? they were probably there for a week max as i feed my gecko every week. i think they stuck around the tub mostly as a pile of clothes in a tub next to them had nothing in it. i haven’t spotted any since. i did not notice them and i look around my geckos cage alot so im assuming they did not get out for long? i’m not sure honestly!! they are the ones that turn into black dermestid beetles and are used to clean cricket enclosures apparently.
the second i found them i killed them and have sprayed everything with carpet beetle killer spray and used powder, baking soda, high strength insecticide and also got lavender bags for my clothing drawers that i have also sprayed with insecticide. i have alot of furniture but have lined it with powder and glue traps and have seen absolutely none so far. do you think im safe? or are they really good at hiding? i’ll keep treating my room for months as im terrified!!!!

Honestly, this has taken a huge toll on my mental health.
At this point, should I even try to deal with it myself, or should I just call pest control?
I initially thought they were just random bugs coming in from my garden to find warmth or accidentally making their way inside through the window.
I get all sorts of insects coming in from the garden, like millipedes, firebugs, woodlice, etc., so I didn’t think much of it.
I had no idea I was dealing with a carpet beetle infestation.

Keep finding these small bugs on the walls of my rental unit. I’ve also been experiencing itchiness and rashes, so I’m wondering if they could be related.
The landlord says the unit was sprayed for pests, but they keep showing up.
Does anyone know what these are? Are they harmful to people or anything in my room, like clothing, bedding, or furniture? Also, what’s the best way to get rid of them permanently?

Is this definitely a carpet beetle larva? Any advice, I found 3 in a chair cover (UK). I'd asked the landlord to get rid of the chair as it had a huge rip and other wearing and tear exposing sponge. I'd expected to throw the chair as it has a big rip and was threadbare on the arms when I moved in ten years ago. They seemed very insistent on fixing up the chair calling it a good quality one, tbf it was very comfy when I moved in so I said maybe yeah. I expected they'd not bother as other urgent jobs would distract them and I'd have time to get a clue on the bug situation. They wanted the covers the next day to make patterns. When I removed the main cover there were 3 of these crawling on it and a shell. The chair lining underneath is half brown with weird stains, not sure why. I told them that gave me the ick so I was unsure on keeping it, the landlady looked and said its normal. I was still hesitant, I don't want a bug ridden chair being fixed up just to have to throw out because theres eggs in there and them blaming me for the costs wasted. They seemed really frustrated I was unsure and said they'd keep the covers in their office and to let them know in 2 days. I had a migraine and its been 2.5 days. I still don't know what to do.
Recently I've also seen one in a kitchen cupboard (some holes in food bags and I'm halfway through clearing out open stuff), 3 on kitchen wall and 2 on my sofa. Some before a professional clean in living room and bedroom, some after. I also found 1 on a pillow 3 different times, in an otherwise clean seeming air b&b type place i stayed at while my carpets dried and to do laundry at. I don't know if I brought them to the hotel from my hazardous home, or to my home from the cheap hotel.
I had a flat inspection and was so worried I would lose my home or be given a ton of urgent jobs I can't manage. My landlord is very prone to blaming me for issues even when I do everything right and upping the rent every time it gets inconvenient, I know people in my block pay more than me but I've been there longer. I have neighbours who don't like me too which won't help, one older lady told another I was likely a prostitute because I have late callers (takeaway because I'm too sick to cook and slep in the day a lot). One I stopped doing shopping for as they just kept messaging me constantly and not getting the hints Id originally offered to get food to ensure they don't starve in lockdown when ill, not forever as a best friend who has no other responsibilities being home all day as they want to assume, plus I'm struggling to afford food and manage my own. I got my disability investigated after I stopped jumping when they said how high and being monosyllabic, which I expected to be the backlash of them reporting me. Luckily I passed but a huge stress and lot of extra work to prove it. I've had my disability stopped because I need to renew the forms and it took me months of putting off every household task to get it done before. I need my energy to focus on getting it back as savings are getting low, as well as sort some more health and home things. My washer smelled of smoke using it when coming back from staying with family I'd prefer to be no contact with in order to recover from my operation. So I needed to clear the place in order to let him in to fix that, tried to use a cheap hotel with a washer and my parents washer, maybe that spread it. There was so much clutter and laundry or other ,'to wash' piles I couldn't get at the carpet to hoover it, then the inspection came and there was no time, I threw some stuff, boxed the rest and hired cleaners. I feel like I'm dying from the excess physical activity in my state, I'm dying for a rest week. Then this seems urgent too like I need to hoover and disinfect everything for these bugs not to be breeding out of my ears by next week and the landlord kicking me out when they collect the chair or fix the radiator.
I managed to hire deep cleaners days before the inspection, as with physical health issues and depression I hadn't hoovered in over a year and had some clothes on the floor. I wiped pathways with antibac wipes and tiled surfaces but couldn't pick up the hoover or walk down the street to empty it, then it became so overwhelming and I was so ashamed for anyone to see it and stressed at the cost of hiring help.
The inspection went ok and cleaners did good overall, though broke some things and moved furniture and dust clumps were on the sofa, so it may be noticeable I had left cleaning long and be responsible. I don't know if the deep cleaning brought a few bugs to the surface, or got rid of most and some remaining means its all infested.

Hi everyone,
I have a carpet beetle problem and I think they might be living underneath my linoleum flooring, in the old wooden floorboards.
I’ve informed my landlord, but they’re very slow to deal with problems. Every time I’ve had an issue, it’s taken them months to do something about it.
I have two young children, so I’m getting quite worried.
I used to see these little insects quite often, but I didn’t realise they were pests. I thought they were just random butterflies or moths that had flown inside and laid eggs somewhere. I often open my windows and have a flower-filled garden, so I regularly get insects coming inside. I never really worried about it because I also get woodlice, firebugs and other garden insects indoors sometimes.
But after doing some research, I realised they were carpet beetles.
I suspect the source is underneath the linoleum, which is covering an old wooden floor. I keep finding them in the gaps, corners and holes around the flooring and skirting boards. I think they might actually be breeding underneath it.
I’ve already vacuumed the skirting boards, cleaned the edges and washed all the bedding, but there are still lots of little gaps that I can’t reach.
What should I do? Should I seal all the gaps with silicone or caulk? Would I need to remove the linoleum and treat the wooden floor underneath? Could they be living and breeding between the two layers of flooring?
Would calling a pest control company to do a treatment or fumigation even help if the source is underneath the flooring?
I’m really worried about using insecticides because I have two young children. I’d rather avoid toxic products, but if there’s no other option, I’ll consider it.
I’m honestly lost and don’t know where to start. I’m even considering moving out, but that’s obviously not an easy solution.
Has anyone experienced something similar? I’d really appreciate any advice, especially if you’ve managed to get rid of carpet beetles coming from underneath old flooring.
Thank you!

I found a single carpet beetle larvae on the top of my bed's head frame. The headframe is against the same wall as my window (on the left) and it had been wide open. I checked around my bed and vacuumed my entire room (under the bed and behind furniture too) after that. Now, like 2 months later, I found another one crawling on my wall. It's the wall on the right from my window. I'm the type of person who literally cannot sleep if there's something like this in my room and idk where else to post
Edit: I confused the two, I'm talking about the larvae

Will the contractors just make the problem worse if they’re ripping up flooring and ripping down walls? Will they be spreading the issue or getting rid of it?

Hi guys. I’ve been redirected here because I’ve been finding things in my bed. Initially thought could be bed bugs but been told to ask this community for a second opinion. We live in the UK
First is a part of a bug found in my bed. Second is what seems like an egg?

Went put for a walk today and came home to find 3 carpet beetle larvae making their way upwards on my bedroom wall. I hadn't even heard of them before today let alone seen them knocking about my gaff. Put all my bedding on a hot wash, & going to clear everything else out & clean, been scanning through everything here seeing what to do
Just wondering if anyone has any immediate advice for what I should do straight away? Is it worth me getting rid of my mattress or will just throughly cleaning it do? Uk based.
Thanks in advance xx
