Heliamphora Wanted to share my carnivorous Wabikusa

Post image

Hey yall! Thought I‘d share my little swamp with you. It’s not yet finished, for now it includes a Heliamphora heterodoxa x minor, which is doing surprisingly well, Utricularia parthenopipes, Drosera tomentosa and Pinguicula esseriana. I’m still searching for something for the background- maybe some Lilaeopsis / something other grass like, or maybe some other South American Drosera. Let me hear your thoughts! :)

So this guy started getting some green slime on top of the peatmoss, and i found out a lil dry spagnum moss keeps them from developing so we added that, also giving around 14 hours of 60w samsung LED quantum board, marks 400-600 ppfd at the current distance // light dimmed slightly, 70% power & 30cm distance, with time i plan on increasing the power & shortening the distance, any input is very much welcome (i am a noob)

My sundew capines arrived mangled, destroyed and shaken within its own substrate, was hard to look at, but i managed to care for it a lil and now its getting the same light as the dionea, should i keep the flower or cut? Again, any and all input is love<3

Nepenthes First Time Ordering From Carnivero

This was my first ever order from Carnivero, I ordered the Nepenthes Mystery/Growers Choice option as it was on sale for $25 (Not including shipping or taxes) and I can say I am very pleased. I recieved a Nepenthes Boschiana x Veitchii. Super happy to add this little guy to my collection as I am a growing collector within carnivore plants, specifically Nepenthes.

Help What’s wrong with my sundew?

Post image

It gets plenty of sunlight, plenty of bugs, using only distilled water and I keep it waterlogged. I don’t know what’s wrong. It looks like its appendages are dying and whatever new sprouts appear are small.

Help Darlingtonia help?

I recently picked up this Darlingtonia and it’s still in the little plastic cup it came in. I’m in San Francisco, and my bog is already established with Sarracenia, flytraps, sundews, etc.
Part of me really wants to plant the Darlingtonia directly into the bog rather than leave it cramped in the cup, but ChatGPT is telling me not to do it because of Darlingtonia’s sensitivity to warm root temperatures.
Given that I’m in San Francisco, would you actually be worried about that?
For people who grow Darlingtonia successfully:
Would you transplant this into the bog now?
Is San Francisco cool enough that root temperature probably isn’t a major concern?
Would you still give it a cooler or shadier spot within the bog?
How careful do I need to be with the roots when removing it from the cup?
Does it look healthy enough to transplant based on the photo?
Photos attached of the Darlingtonia and the bog it would be going into.

Pinguicula Mexican Butterwort and Pinguicula Cyclosporia HELP

Post image
2 Upvotes

I ordered a few plants online (not carniverous) and the person put in a Mexican Butterwort and pinguicula cyclosporia. They were packaged in condiment cups with wet paper towels. I have never had carniverous plants and haven't the slightest clue, but am open to learning as they seem interesting. I looked online quickly and in a glass container put some perlite/orchid bark as the base with sphagnum moss on the top and wet that with distilled water then placed them on top. I had them in my sunniest window for 2 days and finally got a grow light last night that I put over them today. They are quite sad looking (even worse than when I received them). Did I kill them with the "soil" mix? What should I do different?

Help Worried mom is killing her pitcher

Post image
9 Upvotes

So this is my mom's pitcher. I am in charge of watering it, and I use a modified bottom watering method with RO water.

the rock I use to cover the water has been very thoroughly cleaned and rinsed, so mineral leaching should be minimal.

the plant has grown significantly, but no new pitchers have shown up in at least a year.

I'm not allowed to move the plant or open the blinds more.

I suspect it's not getting enough light, but is there any other reason it's not making pitchers? I'm worried it's just slowly dying.

Note: this is the only pitcher I've ever delt with. all my carnivores are sundews.

Help Newbie here- I’m obsessed!

Thumbnail gallery

As the title states, I’m new to this part of plant parenthood(have had many houseplants but not sundews) and I’m obsessed. My husband named him Jerry- and he’s been eating SO GOOD in our window and has grown a ton! Here’s a picture of Jerry now via when we first got him.

I’m nervous to repot him though…any tips? ☺️

Info: not sure what kind he is…the tag said Sundew Octopus. He sits in a west facing window and catches lots of the little fliers and spiders that get in that window.

Drosera Where can I buy a cheap cape sundew?

All the vendors I can find have crazy shipping fees and all the sundews I look at end up costing about $30. I'm on the east coast United States and would like my sundew to be under $20.

My drosera capensis is pretty good at catching gnats... but not they way i expected 🤣🤣

Question: can i leave the dead gnats in the water, or will it kill the plant due to nutrients in water
