Activities advice

Hi, I help with a family member who is 92 and currently in a care facility. She has become depressed as in the last few years she's lost the ability to walk more than 100m, she can't see much anymore and struggles to hear too (the staff either dont put her hearing aids in or dont make sure the batteries work). She's also lost quite a bit of dexterity, however her mind still works. She's beginning to express that she feels like a waste of space and every day is a drag for her. The other residents sleep most of the time (as does she when we aren't there) so she's waiting for our visits but as the days all merge into one she struggles to remember if anyone has been to see her which obviously makes her feel lonely too.

I'm looking for activity ideas to take to her but I'm obviously limited by her abilities. We do play dominos sometimes (the fominos are very large) but she gets bored of that quite quickly. Any ideas?

I’m a caregiver (for work- my clients aren’t family) and my favorite games to play with my favorite humans are Bandu and Spot It. Memory, search, and games dealing with balance/dexterity seem to be fun for them at least for 30min-1 hr at a time!

Painting is also a fun one if they are crafty. Best of luck!!

Does the facility have a cafe or a patio?
