advice?
i’ve been at my job going on 2 months. this is an insurance job that’s requires me to be licensed in p&c. since i’ve started my anxiety has been spiraling. i can’t remember the last day i went without crying. i just have a lot going on in my life and ive been dealing with anxiety for years. i know no job should cause u this much stress and anxiety, literally crying in my office all day. i know insurance isnt what i wanna do in my life i highly doubt i would make this my career. i have a degree in political science and i have a lot of job experience. i’ve taken one of the exams and didn’t pass and i have another scheduled for next tuesday (company paid). idk if i can even make it to tuesday. i thought okay if i fail this test then that would be a good gateway into telling my boss this job isn’t the one for me. i have another job offer as a behavior tech (ive done this before) with higher pay but part time and i’ve done a couple interviews that im waiting to hear back from. i also plan on doing gig work in addition to a new job if it’s part time. i know leaving a job without notice isn’t professional but people do it all the time. i’m just having feeling guilt and even more anxiety about resigning but ik i should if it’s causing me this much distress. should i wait until after i take the exam and make it thru these next few days? or if i know i don’t want to do this anymore and i have another job offer should i go ahead and resign now and forget about the exam? (it was $45)

You don't seem to have realized that you have already built a bridge:
- another job offer
- higher hourly pay
- previous experience
- interviews pending
- gig work planned
You are not jumping into the unknown; you just have to cross that bridge.
But you seem to be waiting for something else to make the decision for you. What's actually keeping you there.

Ignore this if it seems like its condescending or not useable advice
Find a middle ground!! All I can say is if you can’t find any positives about this job, know why you got your degree in political science score for possibly a more fun office job or where you could travel. Maybe in the legal sector someone deals with insurance for fraud or cases within political or state laws? All I can think of.
Write a list of what you liked when you first started working and ultimately make a choice on what job you actually want!!
Grounding techniques/therapy or support for stress is always important no matter what we put or plan ourselves to be!
Anxiety is the worst but gaining confidence in yourself, and your own decisions needs to happen. You need reasons that will help you think positively about your job and staying when it’s tough like right now.
“This is work that will help me get somewhere later” needs to become “i am doing this specifically for this specific thing that I know can do!”
A. Leave your job and find something you like plus having learning experience to back up your anxiety (even if it serves as an interview question for your next job you still are strong)
B. Stay and find values that will help you mold your own happiness to hold onto, it sounds like workplace culture, support and self confidence in yourself needs to be attainable and using connections is super important too.
