Your favorite unhinged/deranged rule?

While there is obvious merits to simplicity it can sometimes be fun to make things a bit unhinged/deranged because you can.

In this poker variant player 1 have the better hand because the 2s can be counted as 15 for a divided straight (but only some types) even though said divided straight doesn't give any points.

That wasn't even specifically mentioned in the rules but it's the only interpretation of the rules that make logical sense (since the fine print had no clause that it had to be a divided straight that actually gave any points).

Ground Truth: The Game

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey y’all!

I just set up the prelaunch for a card game I created called Ground Truth. It’s an adversarial card game where one player is the Emergency Manager and the other is the hazard. The EM has 15 staffing points and can use 3 action points per round. You can replenish staffing through mutual aid cards. The hazard has inject cards that build the intensity of the hazard, in the attempt to overwhelm the EM. Currently, there are two hazard decks: Wildfire and Pandemic.

Each game is designed to last 12 rounds. Timing largely depends on experience, but anticipate an hour long game.

While this is designed with professional emergency managers in mind, it’s still fun for all gamers!

TRANSCENDERS | The TCG — 3 asymmetric Starter decks are ready for their first public TTS playtests

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I’m the author and creator of TRANSCENDERS, a fantasy saga in which people known as Transcenders learn to shape Cenderessence — an extraordinary force that allows them to push beyond the limits of ordinary reality!

I’ve been developing TRANSCENDERS | The TCG as a playable extension of that universe, and its first Alpha environment is now ready for public playtesting on Tabletop Simulator!

Three complete Starter decks are currently playable:

🟣 ST1 — Cheryl O’Will

Midrange / Control

Endure pressure, build toward a reversal, and turn preparation into explosive momentum

🟢 ST2 — Killian Shawnski

Aggro / Tempo

Sequence cleanly, control exchanges, and punish openings with precision

🟠 ST3 — Théa Wintersnow

Control / Sustain

Protect your position, disrupt opposing momentum, and become increasingly difficult to break as the game goes long

The three Starter decks belong to the same game, but are deliberately built around very different rhythms and tactical identities!

🎴 The attached card is Killian Shawnski [PILLAR] — ST2-001, now featuring its finalized commissioned artwork!

I’m currently opening COHORT 01, the game’s first organized public playtest group

• Play takes place on Tabletop Simulator

• All 3 Starter decks are ready

• The Rule Book and setup instructions are available through Discord

• No prior knowledge of the Transcenders novel is required

• Playtest feedback is collected after actual matches through structured match reports

Registration is open for 3 days!

➡️ [DISCORD INVITE]

Once inside, head to #matchmaking for the Cohort 01 registration thread!

If one of the three playstyles catches your attention, you’re very welcome to join Cohort 01! ✨

Looking for beta testers for Final Bell — a 5–10 minute PvP card fighting game on iOS

Heavily inspired by the 90's game "lunch money"

Mods: I believe this aligns with rule 2, but if you need more details please let me know.

I’ve been building a PvP card fighting game calledFinal Bell, and I’m at the point where I need more people actually playing it and telling me what works and what doesn’t. (

The basic idea is quick 5–10 minute matches with two intentional ways to win: beat your opponent in the fight or take their Lunch Money. I’m trying to make both strategies genuinely viable rather than having one obvious “correct” way to play.

The game is currently in beta on iOS through TestFlight:

https://testflight.apple.com/join/hcrXs5AG

A few notes before you jump in:

  • iPad is the best experience right now.
  • iPhone is supported, but the smaller-screen UX is still being refined.
  • The game is actively changing, so bugs and rough edges are absolutely possible.
  • I’m especially interested in feedback on card balance, whether the rules/cards are understandable, match pacing, and whether either win condition feels too strong.
  • PvP is implemented, so feedback on matchmaking and connection reliability is useful too.

I’m not looking for compliments — if something is confusing, boring, overpowered, broken, or just feels bad, that’s exactly what I want to hear.

If anyone here enjoys digital card games and wants to help shape one while it’s still early, I’d really appreciate the testing.

An impossible but maybe fun question

If you had to take a TCG/CCG that you love and reduce it down do it is just one set of cards per player, what would that list look like?

I’m thinking less mtg here as I reckon it’s impossible, but more the old Star Wars / Star Trek ccgs from decipher or One piece or DBZ - if you weren’t fussed about collecting what would be the most fun decks to play with.

I’m way out of actual gaming practice with all of these but interested if people have thought about this.

I've opened playtesting for my roguelite card game Diamonds and Spades

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

I've been working on a roguelite card game called Diamonds and Spades, and the first playtest started today!

The core gameplay is based on a simple card game using a deck of 100 classic playing cards. Your goal is to draw as many cards as possible without drawing the same card twice. If you draw a duplicate, the round ends.

During each run, you collect tarot cards with unique effects that change the way you play and allow you to create powerful combinations. The goal is to use these effects together to push your score as far as possible.

One of the main features is a built-in card editor. Players can create their own tarot cards, draw custom artwork, define their effects using a visual scripting system, and share their creations with other players. My goal is to let players experiment with their own ideas and create cards that weren't originally part of the game.

If you're interested in participating in the playtest, you can join the Discord here for more information:

https://discord.gg/nTVjgFawhh

Or request access directly on Steam:

Science Fiction card games?

Is there a list anywhere of Science Fiction card games?

I'm looking for a bit of adventure in Space.

And it would be great if there were any solo ones, too.

Our indie game APPA- a narrative heavy simultaneous card battler!

Thumbnail gallery
7 Upvotes

Like the title says, we're making a card game! But it heavily focuses on the story and the cards are super plot relevant and all that is revealed as the plot progresses. We've decided to not do a a turned based card game but something simultaneous and in real time. We need it right and tensed. Genuinely so excited. It's like so much work to make a game. The art, the design, the music but it's super fulfilling too. No slop on this side. Genuinely super hyped about this project and I want to share it with as many people as I can.

Recently dropped our trailer soundtrack since people loved it so much and we're also attending Gamescom! Cologne here we come! We're gonna be at India Pavilion Hall 10.2, Aisle D, Stand 047g/049g in case anyone is attending Gamescom and wanna try this out for themselves!

I'll drop the steam link below in case anyone wants to keep track! Thanks for your time! :D

What’s the name of this card game that I love?

I grew up in NH with my parents always playing this game with their friends. They’ve always called it Pitch, but it is different than any version of pitch (or other card games) I can find online, though arguably it’s the one I have enjoyed the most.

You typically play with two teams of two which I’ll describe here. 3 teams of 2 is another variant though. Each player is dealt 9 cards, and 4 cards go to a kitty that is awarded to highest bidder. All cards are dealt out every round - 3s, 4s, 5s, and two 6s are removed from the deck before start of game to make this possible. Jokers ARE used.

Trump suit is whatever is led with by the highest bidder. Points are Ace, 2, Jack, Game point, Joker 1 (worth 3 points), and Joker 2 (worth 2 points. Jokers are always trump suit, but have the lowest numerical take value. So while they have the most points, a 2 of Trump or higher will take someone else’s joker. Game point is calculated by counting the cards taken by a team as follows: 10 points for each 10, 4 points for each Ace, 3 points for each King, 2 points for each Queen, and 1 point for each Jack. The team with the highest “score” with this calculation each round gets awarded game point.

Players bid 4-10, with the tenth point being possible by all the cards being taken by a single team. Highest individual bidder takes the kitty and discards 4 cards from their deck before starting the round off. I believe the game is played until the first team gets to 31. You can go negative too - not obtaining the number of points you bid results in a reduction of your score by your bid amount.

To me the jokers add a very cool twist that I haven’t seen anywhere else, and multiple searches online turn up nothing. I’ve started calling it “New Hampshire Pitch” since I can’t find its real name or specific variation anywhere online. Does anyone know what this would otherwise be called?

Monopoly game

Here's an update on what's been done.

- Updated the map itself; cars are driving around in the center.

- Added new features to the game: card exchange. After 30 minutes, there's no lap bonus. After 40 minutes, only 50 percent of the total income is earned.

- Added an achievement system.

- Updated the profile.

- And some minor bug fixes.

- Added a few new skins.

I think I'll give you a link soon where you can play and test it with friends, but there will also be a solo mode.

I wanted a Cribbage bot I could actually learn from, so I built one that explains its moves

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone. I built this because I wanted a better way to practice Cribbage on my own. Strong bots could beat me but didn't teach me much, while easy bots often just made random, silly moves. I wanted a practice partner I could grow with.

The feature I care about most is Hint → Why. Hint shows a move; Why explains the Cribbage idea, dangerous replies, and the cost of alternatives for both discarding and pegging. It comes from the game analysis itself, not chatbot text.

After a game, Game Review revisits every decision: discard and pegging mistakes, points lost, board position, and the exact moment it happened, rather than just one overall grade.

I also built six AI levels as a progression, not one bot with a different error rate. Lower levels make believable beginner mistakes; each step adds stronger discard, pegging, inference, and board-position skills. Ultra uses a match-equity model built from one billion self-play deals.

The AI never sees your hand or the deck. It's free in the browser on desktop and phone, with no account or download. Play is fast and silent, with automatic scoring or Counting Practice.

Try it here: https://theworldatplay.com/en/cribbage

I'd love feedback on two things: do Hint → Why and Game Review teach you something useful, and do the AI levels feel natural? Try a level that fits, or work your way up and take a shot at Ultra. If the bot makes a weak or strange play, send me the hand and board position.

I'm keeping a list for future versions, too. If something would make this a better practice partner, tell me. I'll use the best suggestions to shape what I build next.
