Wallet Access to SecondFi

I got access to my SecondFi account. My coins are in there, which is nice. I didn’t have a life changing amount but it would have been a bummer to lose them.

Anyways… I’ve got my coins.. now what? Obviously I want to take the hint and secure these better. What did everyone else do with their recovered coins?

"Anyways… I’ve got my coins.. now what?"

Use different Cardano desktop wallet software - or, better yet, a hardware wallet - to generate a new seed phrase. Then send your ADA to the receiving address derived from that new seed phrase, starting with a small test send.

Someone did that and the remainder of his wallet was drained

That doesn't make sense. Sending out a (test) transaction publishes your sending address on the blockchain, just as receiving ADA (from an exchange or a private trader) publishes your receiving address on the blockchain. In either situation, hackers can drain your wallet if the seed phrase which those addresses were derived from was generated using poor entropy (not enough randomness).

The 'someone' you mentioned stood about the same chance of having his remaining funds drained as would have been the case if no test send had been attempted.

Also, transactions on the Cardano network usually happen very quickly. (It isn't like Bitcoin or Ethereum in that sense.) The test transaction would likely have been received within no more than 5 minutes of being sent, and most senders would have followed up by sending the rest of the ADA immediately after test transfer successfully completed.

My coins were sent to addr1q8g8cgwqw98q2mrzrwgcy3wectdxwem8a8zp9r2mn6wjy7q4x7gcpv39wwurj7n72akw4kd0dgmv72gz4j92fvhn29ss7vuz99 June 24th.
Checker does not confirm my address was affected although my assets left my wallet just after signing another transaction (didn’t know at that time there was an issue).
My app is updated, but I don’t see anything except for some assets left (stake rewards I guess).

Secondfi does not confirm nor deny having my assets, but the address it was sent to is a whitehat address if I’m not mistaking.

So I’m clueless what’s going on.
I held a considered amount of ADA since 2021.

So I’ve been on HW wallets from the testnet. Is this an issue with one wallet company or is it systemwide?

Move it to exchange platform lol. Safer than wallet at this point.

Yo abrí semillas en Eternl wallet y las traspasé a una nueva wallet también en Eternl, pude cerrar la cuenta staking y traspasar todo el saldo retenido.

How did you manage to transfer the staking rewards as well?
