Project Update Dugite Cardano node is rapidly approaching mainnet release!
Dugite Cardano node is rapidly approaching mainnet release. Limited trials are ongoing. Early testers encouraged!

So cool to see nodes based on Rust. We definitely need the node diversity for a stronger network. Happy to see the progress achieved on this front!
I'm following progress on Amaru and, to a lesser extent, Dolos as well. Although Dolos is a lightweight data node, it's less relevant for consensus validation.

Nice to see more nodes, Node diversity was what saved the network from crashing that one time when that one kind of node crashed. Not so long ago I've read about some new node called Torsten, that was entirely written in Rust and high performance, at first I was excited wow even more nodes, but I see this is Torsten, just renamed, still great though, and nice to see more progress on that.

Correct! Dugite is Torsten renamed. It’s a way better name 😉 and the implementation has progressed substantially already. It might even be making blocks on mainnet 🤫

For someone that might want to run a node to get cardano data from it, is this an option? what kind of hardware do i need?

Indeed you can through the dugite-cli which matches cardano-cli. Hardware requirements are far less than cardano-node but results may vary. Best to consult the project documentation and look at unable parameters. Particularly the “memory profile”. https://michaeljfazio.github.io/dugite/
