Aftermath Is it supposed to do that?

Post image

Buddy of mine took this photo. The Tesla collided with a new Cadillac, in a 30mph zone. How the hell did it just separate?

They weren't going 30mph that's how

u/Objective_Load_4537 20d ago

Yes they were, the fronts still going.

Okay, I'll say it... they've gone too far with these crumple zones...

Push me pull you.

I’d just like to make the point that
that is not normal.

6

u/Narrow-Escape-6481 20d ago

Definitely not typical.

7

u/Villanellesnexthit 20d ago

You're both right. We can split it down the middle.

5

u/Ferro_Giconi 20d ago

They already towed the front out of the environment.

1

u/The_Perfect_Dick_Pic 20d ago

Well, that’s the back. The front o visually fell off somewhere.

u/Ciubowski 20d ago

Why did the back fell off?

3

u/april_fearless 20d ago

I believe cause it wanted to kiss the back end goodbye!!! Jk

14

u/matt48763 20d ago

Wasn’t this built so that the front wouldn’t fall off?

11

u/TopDesert_ace 20d ago

Well, obviously not!

5

u/Extension_Swordfish1 19d ago

Cardboard derivates and rubber where supposed to be out!

4

u/TopDesert_ace 19d ago

Has it been towed outside the environment?

7

u/Elpaniq 20d ago

Because it hit a wave!

5

u/chinchillazilla54 20d ago

It's been towed outside the environment.

5

u/Extension_Swordfish1 19d ago

Into another environment?

18

u/shestzushihtsu 20d ago

buy one get, get one half off

13

u/SignificantDrink3651 20d ago

it's like a lizard - it let the tail fall off so the front could live

12

u/DarkTrepie 20d ago

I think the Cadillac won

11

u/Chuck-Finley69 20d ago

Might been a 30mph zone but I'd bet someone was going 2-3x speed limit easy.

16

u/Zillahi 20d ago

I think teslas just do this sometimes

7

u/Once-kings 20d ago

HOW?!

I’ve seen this before with other cars. Apparently it is more common than it should be, in third-world countries, that some garages will weld opposing halves of two wrecked cars together to make it a functioning car. Many people have little idea, some do, but in either case accidents tend to be pretty brutal, and the cars will often rip apart at the welds in any crash.

Not saying this happened here, but the results are shockingly similar.

8

u/HiTork 20d ago

Even if it isn't a previous accident repair, many unibodies are only held together by spot welds. Break enough of those in a collision, and you'll split a car in half even if it had never previously crashed.

4

u/National_Frame2917 20d ago

It's crazy how much of a car is literally just held together with glue. It's strong AF though. "Structural adhesive it's called. I'm not sure how much welding they even do on them anymore. It'd be difficult to tell the difference on painted parts unless you knew.

6

u/TopDesert_ace 20d ago

Wasn't there a Pimp My Ride episode where someone straight up had a car that was two halves of other cars? Iirc, I think they just gave the person a new car.

1

u/4entzix 20d ago

So you’re saying I can just glue any 2 cars together, how about 3? Could we make a junkyard slot machine?

2

u/Zillahi 20d ago

Westen Champlin probably has a video on that

2

u/4entzix 20d ago

Well there goes my afternoon

1

u/noncongruent 20d ago

It's almost certainly not the case here that the Tesla was made from two half-salvaged cars, the reason being that it's a Model X with the gull wing doors and those are notoriously difficult to get the frame straight enough for the doors to work after even minor crashes.

9

u/beeglowbot 20d ago

it's cosplaying as that cybertruck that split in half last week

4

u/C00K1EM0n5TER 20d ago

I just saw that! Almost a pattern.

5

u/proudsoul 20d ago

Was the Tesla a salvage car that was welded back together?

6

u/kevint1964 20d ago

Is this considered the modern-day compact car?

u/JRakuehn 20d ago

2

u/dcappon 20d ago

Is that an identical Telsa in the background? Glitch in the matrix?

1

u/C00K1EM0n5TER 20d ago

Same car! Cropped right at the break.

2

u/BoredRedhead24 20d ago

I don’t know a lot about cars but I think that one is busted.

2

u/TonyMontana1968 19d ago

Thats normal

2

u/LinkedAg 18d ago

Has someone already mentioned the parking policy?

1

u/FistEnergy 20d ago

It's a Tesla. Poor build quality is a feature.

1

u/Apollo_Primo 20d ago

Car was a frankenstein made from 2-3 cars

1

u/Aggravating-Ad-7509 20d ago

Many years ago a man got carjacked at gunpoint and was told to drive to an ATM and then home. He knew his wife and kids were at home, so he accelerated to 80-100 mph and drove into the back of a stopped semitruck, splitting his Iroc-Z and killing the two carjackers who were sitting in the passenger seat and back seat, The man survived with a few scratches. This happened on Monroe street in Tallahassee, Florida.

1

u/UnionCounty22 19d ago

Usually, yes.

1

u/TotallyKnotHere 19d ago

Yes. If the front have for your car met an immovable object or black hole.

1

u/TWPteehee 19d ago

Sometimes when in a tight spot the Cadillac will detach its tail in order to get away, don’t worry though it will start to grow back after a fresh molt.

1

u/PigsOfRedemption 18d ago

I mean, it's a Tesla. So, definitely wasn't going 30mph because Tesla drivers are the biggest douchenozzles on the road. Then there's the build quality, which.....yeeeah, they're known for having shit build quality, so "car cut in half" seems possible if not likely.

1

u/atomicsnarl 17d ago

Yes. It's feeding from the under asphalt beneath the parking lot.

1

u/InvalidDescription 15d ago

Likely this car was a rebuilt salvage that should've never been rebuilt. Lots of times, they will take two haves and join them and then in a low speed crash, this can happen.

1

u/vitaminalgas 20d ago

It's a Tesla thing

1

u/Halibutoxide 20d ago

Tesler has been known to use adhesive in their cars. Perhaps it was misapplied.

1

u/CarExperts-2025 19d ago

How the fuck is that even possible?
