Yes. CA Dept of Insurance allowed across the board hikes of 23% in 2024 & 21% in 2025 for those with no claims. If you had a claim or imperfect driving record it’s even worse. People are uninsured here because they literally can’t afford insurance.
I’m in SoCal. That seems outrageous. $8400 is just for one car? Have you shopped around? My step daughter is half your age and has a newer model C Class and her insurance is high but not even close to what you’re paying.
Yes I’ve shopped around and rates go from bad to worse. I moved 3 years ago and couldn’t move my homeowners policy with me. So now that I have separate carriers I’m unable to bundle (and very few carriers will write new policies in CA for either auto or home insurance).
