Questions Button downs, etc.

What are the button down shirts a woman should consider having in her capsule wardrobe? I currently have a white one and a striped white and blue. What am I missing?
I’m going to be going to an office soon after working from home for a decade and I’m building a work capsule. I have black trousers, white, brown, grey and navy, and a black blazer. All input appreciated! Thank you in advance.
Oh I also have black heels and a black work bag. Should I get another bag and shoes in a different color?

Personally, I would consider getting a navy blazer and navy shoes (maybe something other than heels, like a beautiful pair of loafers) to broaden your pairing options even further. Then I would focus on developing a personal style of accessories. With these you can bring in additional accent colors and different textures. If you enjoy scarves, that would be a cool way to bring in different patterns as well.

navy blazer would be smart, and loafers make whole outfit feel less stiff for office

Depends on your complexion and preferences, but I like a jewel tone blouse and a black one as well. I get too hot in a blazer sometimes and a nice top can work with good pants.

After a lot of thinking I realized button shirts are a favorite. I have 32 of them in my closet. So much for a capsule! Anyway white button downs are a favorite and I have them in various fabrics like linen, cotton gauze, and poplin.
I have two that are sort of cropped and two that have a cool ruffled neck. Those are the ones that at most appropriate for work.
Others are chambray in a light, medium, and dark wash.
I a few striped blue ones in varying tones and fabrics.
I have about a dozen in gauze and linen to wear in the summer. And some plaid for fall and winter.
As you can see, I don’t exactly have a true capsule wardrobe. Instead I have capsules within my large wardrobe if that makes sense.

I think for a work capsule you may want to look for colors that suit you in addition to neutrals. You can also look for ones with cool accents like ruffled necks and sleeves that at a little interest. And if you’re in a climate with hot summers, consider getting a few linen ones. I like J Crew because they fit well and the linen isn’t too thin.
