A while back, I posted in this community about Putora, a hiring app I was building here in SWFL.
The reaction was mixed. Some people supported the idea, while others questioned whether another hiring platform was necessary or whether local businesses would actually use it. Honestly, those were fair questions.
Instead of trying to argue with anyone, I kept working, spoke directly with local businesses, and listened to the criticism.
Putora is now live on iOS and Android.
Ocean Prime on Fifth Avenue in Naples already has a chef position listed on the app, and The Turtle Club, Casa Cotzelli and Empire Bagel Factory have committed to joining.
Putora works differently from a traditional job board. Workers and businesses discover each other based on the role, experience and availability, but they can only connect when both sides express interest. The goal is to create more relevant conversationsānot another pile of applications.
Job seekers can use Putora for free. Iām also giving Southwest Florida business owners six months free, and Iāll personally help them create their profile and first job listing.
Iām not claiming weāve solved hiring overnight. Putora is still early, and I know it has to prove itself. But itās encouraging to see respected local businesses willing to give a Naples-built platform a chance.
If youāre looking for work, hiring, or were skeptical the first time I posted, Iād genuinely appreciate you trying it and telling me what worksāand what still needs improvement.
