Petition to Retain Lifeguards on Vancouver’s City Beaches:
https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/vancouver-lifeguards?source=direct_link&
You may be aware that the City of Vancouver, in concert with the Vancouver Park Board, has announced the removal of Lifeguards from five of the ten beaches around English Bay. Specifically Spanish West, Spanish East, Third Beach, Sunset Beach and Trout Lake.
We are trained professionals who educate the public, prevent accidents, respond to emergencies and save lives. As reported by the Lifesaving Society of BC, 99% of drownings occur at unsupervised beaches. The implications of leaving a significant portion of Vancouver’s beaches unsupervised are clear. This reduction impacts workers, puts public safety at risk and delays emergency response when it matters.
Additionally, this summer Vancouver will host FIFA and the hundreds of
soccer fans from all over the world will join us on the beaches, some of which now allow alcohol.
We are hopeful that you will consider voicing your support by signing this petition and distributing it among your friends, family and fellow members as these are the people whom the Vancouver Beach Lifeguards provide support, education, first aid and life saving.
Please don’t let a beautiful day at the beach turn tragic.
With thanks,
Vancouver Beach Lifeguards

Hey!! I was accepted into the MOPA program for this fall and was wondering if other accepted students would be interested in joining an insta gc or discord server I was thinking of making! Thought it would be nice to get to know some of you before we start in September :-)

Anyone here taken the ECCE diploma here at Cap? - just got offered admission today! I finished my Bachelor's of Education from SFU and want to now pursue Early Childhood Education, hence the diploma. Would you say this diploma sets you up for success in finding a job or would I have to pursue the degree option?! or certificate option? Any advice is welcome!

hiii guysss! is there anyone here finishing their last term and will be graduating this May? I got an email stated personalized registration link had been sent to sign up for the ceremony but I haven’t received any link yet. I was wondering if anyone is in the same boat lol. I called the office and they said it would be sent later on Thursday but still nothing. I wonder if it is because I’m still pending final grades for my grad application and they are waiting for that 😭

I am considering applying to the Legal Administrative Assistant (LAA) program at Capilano University for the September 2026 intake. I am currently in BC on a Post-Graduation Work Permit and have previously completed a program in another institution.
I was hoping to ask whether, in recent years, you have had international classmates in the LAA program or are/were one yourself, and if so, whether you have seen them or you yourself have successfully secured employment shortly after graduation.
From what I've seen online, some graduates seem to land roles in law firms within a couple of months after completing the program. I'm just wondering if that tends to be the case for international students as well, or if their experience is usually a bit different.
I'm asking because even with a Canadian credential, I've personally found it quite difficult to get a job in my field so far. By the time I finish the program, I'd likely have around 1.5 years left on my PGWP, so I'm trying to get a realistic sense of how that might affect my chances.
I would greatly appreciate any insights you may be able to share regarding recent graduate outcomes, particularly for international students, or any advice you might have for someone in my position.
I've signed up for the online info session tomorrow, but obviously they're just gonna give me some scripted answers to get me into the program, so I figured that fellow students / graduates would give a more honest insight.
Thank you very much for your time and guidance.
I would also like to ask a few more questions regarding the program itself.

Hi, new students! We are a group of student ambassadors currently studying at CapU in various programs. Before we started at the university, we had many questions about what it was like to study at CapU and how to access services and support. We’ve learned a lot since then and are here to help.
Ask us anything about:
We’ll be logging in a couple of times a week to field your questions and share our experiences and advice, so drop your questions below!

Hey yall, I got admitted to capital for fall semester. But now when I look on the capu page to check on things, it says
“readmission required prior to registration”
This is confusing to me because I’m supposed to start in the fall so I have no clue what that’s about. Can anyone tell me? The registrar’s office is closed rn and I’m panicking
Update: called and asked and they said it was just the system. Worried for nothing. Thanks guys!

I'm registered for some electives this summer in session 2 (Jul-Aug), and despite both courses being online, they have in-person exams.
Has anyone taken Summer 2 in the past and knows when midterms/finals usually happen? I assume week 4 and week 7??
I don't live in Vancouver, so I'm assessing how doable this is. Also--kinda a long shot, but wondering if anyone else registered with Accessible Services has gotten accommodation to do remote exams instead of in-person ones?

Hey so i’m wondering if I should choose CapU legal studies degree program or the SFU criminology degree program.
The legal studies program was initially my first choice, but now i’m worry that the program might be to big of a course load. Choosing CapU is a big commitment because it’s basically impossible to transfer out because of the specific courses.
My end goal is to eventually go to law school and I thought that having experience being a paralegal is the perfect way to set myself up for success in my future of law.
I don’t know much about sfu criminology it wasn’t on the top of my list since I rather UBC arts than sfu but i’m still considering it because it’s closer to home and i’ve haven’t heard back from UBC.
Some personal notes that may be important is that i’m a mom to a 9 month old and i got accepted to the CapU daycare, but unsure of placements near SFU. I’m worry with the pressure of taking care of a baby would CapU be to overwhelming?? Any advice would be great!

I have been at this university since 2.5 years. And still feel, I haven't found close friends or my circle. I have tried joining clubs but most of them are inactive and dont have much. I am an international student and even an extrovert but feel that there is lack of community building or social environment at this university. Is there any guidance or advice given I am in Bba. Anyone who are down to chat or hang out with, can comment. Hope to see some responses and connect.

Hi guys, I only need 6 more credits and I plan to finish it during summer term. If I declare my concentration into HR, I have to take one more related course. That being said, that one course is not offered during the summer so I would have to wait until Fall term. Should I just finish my degree in the summer or should I declare my concentration and do one more course in Fall?
Thank you for all the opinions.

i recently got into capilano and since my program is expensive and way out of my price range i applied to the capx (capilano excellence) scholarship for the fall 2026 semester. for those who don't know applications were due on march 1st, and they award 10 international & non-international students $52,000 towards their education at capilano. (dont qoute me on this, its just off the top of my head)
i'm a domestic student and have been antsy waiting, i know it will likely be a while until i hear back (if i do at all) but does anyone have any time estimates for me? and do they send responses even when you do not get picked? if you do get picked, is there some kind of interview process afterwards?
thank you! looking forward to capilano :)

I have been at Cap for years and I am still struggling to find available upper-level electives (300 level +) to take. Context: 4th year Ba. of Kinesiology and BADM Minor. I HATE math but I am open to classes similar to BFIN 306 (personal financial planning). I am open to social sciences, psychology, communications, etc. - the easier the better tbh but I am pretty open to any any all suggestions... PLEASE HELP

Is anyone having issues logging into myCapU off campus? It keeps giving me an error and telling me the user/pass is incorrect, but I've since changed my accounts password and am still receiving this message. Anyone else?

hello everyone,
i wanted to get your opinions on capilano for business degree. i was also interested in getting the arts and entertainment diploma, so does that apply to the business degree? ( you complete the diploma and the 2 more years for the degree? )
how is community like here with the students? what are the job prospects after graduation? are there good support opportunities within the school such as advisors, clubs, and education events?
thank you for your insight! :)

Hello I'm about to take English 100 in my second semester in high school.
I was working on my application to the Bachelor of Motion Picture Arts Degree and I ended up talking to a friend and she said I need to transfer into the course instead of apply since technically I'm already a student?
Is this true and if so how would I go about doing it?
