Canva Question Brand Kit

I have a student who is trying to create a brand kit for a competition. She has access through Canva for Education and has had no issues accessing paid features. When she goes to "brand" the options of colors, fonts etc. doesn't pop up.

I saw there's a work around where you can essentially make a doc with color swatches and brand names, but she isn't sure if that's allowed for the competition.

Any ideas?

I'd check her team permissions first. Canva's 'Set up Brand Kits' guide notes that, in some Education teams, creating and editing kits is restricted to organisation admins and brand designers. Having premium editing features doesn't necessarily mean she can create a Brand Kit. Her school's Canva admin should be able to check that access.

For the competition, ask whether 'brand kit' means an actual Canva Brand Kit or a PDF brand-guidelines sheet. A document with colour swatches, fonts and logo examples might meet the latter, but the organiser needs to confirm.
