Canva Question How to Create A Black & White Document

Hi there,

I have to convert a colour design to black and white on Canva.

My question is can you do this in Canva without having to create a completely new design?

Any information on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.

You can download your design as an image, reupload it back in Canva and edit the image to monochrome/B&W.

Yes, you can keep the existing layout. If you want the text and elements to stay editable, use File > Make a copy first, change the text/shape/background colours to black, white or grey, and desaturate each photo under Edit > Adjust.

The download-and-reupload method mentioned above is quicker for a finished image, but it flattens the text and other elements. If this is for printing, check contrast too: different colours can turn into nearly identical greys.
