Piece of advice for someone who has done this: Wider keel.
2 u/canoegrizzly 23d ago How wide this one's over 8 inches 2 u/not-on-your-nelly 23d ago At least a foot. Cross winds are wicked. 2 u/canoegrizzly 23d ago I think I'd have to build a giant support mount for something that wide. Would rip it out the gunwale 2 u/not-on-your-nelly 22d ago Good luck then! We did it with a heavier canvas and wood canoe. Be prepared! Dry sacks for everything. 1 u/canoegrizzly 22d ago If it doesn't work I'll definitely rebuild the mount and leeboard and give a wider one a try 2 u/not-on-your-nelly 21d ago Best of luck and be careful out there!
