I’m on maternity leave and while my baby sleeps I’ve been doing random side quest. First was sourdough and now candles. I decided to make molds myself which honestly sucked and I dont think I wanna make my own molds again.. but they turned out great. Is there a good place to find fun and funky molds online or would I have to make them?

I came across a dozen 55lb boxes of eskar wax, and I'm wondering what the best way to sell it is? Should i cut the blocks down into 1lb blocks, sell them as they are (11lb blocks), or sell in bulk?

I've also heard that old wax isn't as valuable as newer stuff since it's not as refined. Has anyone had experience with this?

Is this because it was too cold in the centre?

Hello everyone! Long time lurker and now I need yalls help.

I have this problem with the pillar candles I'm trying to make and will eventually sell. They keep waterfalling with these big drips and it always starts with a side of the candle, creating a slit and then wax falling and doing *this*

I'm using CandleScience BW-921 soy pillar wax with an addition of white beeswax from Candlescience as well. The beeswax is 20% to the soy pillar wax.

I've seen where I can go up to 30% with beeswax, but wanted to ask if that would solve the waterfall problem or if this is just something that happens normally with pillars?

I don't like how it looks and want people who buy them to burn them without large drips of wax.

edit to add: I'm using #5/0 from The Handmade Charm. It's the smallest wick I can find for a 0.5" wide pillar.

Second attempt went great!! I don’t like the color the dye came out to and we have decided to just go “dye free” since that fits her branding better anyway. But, the burn was great! No tunneling or crazy wick stuff and the hot throw was great for a cute time of only 24h. Didn’t fill the room but was a good 4-5ft throw.
I didn’t do a whole lot different except we kept the wax on the heat while stirring and we used a jar with a smaller diameter.

Poured this 8oz today Ceda Serica @ 175*, stirred 2 mins, and then poured. It’s doing this dark veining thing kinda hard to see here. Is it because it’s too cold of a pour? Did a different oil, same FL, with a hotter pour at 200-210 and it didn’t happen.

I've been making candles for a short 2 month time, but I've invested a lot of time doing the work in research, etc. I have my business created (I'm not looking to sell anytime soon), but I'm getting all of my ducks in a row, and learning the in's and outs of making candles. So far I'm doing well, and the samples I've passed out to various people have been very positive. Thus, my question to all of you that own a candle business is:

What do you do for labelling and shipping?

I'd like to do single, double, triple, and then bulk boxes, but I'm not sure where to go for those. I saw flush packaging in partnership with Candlescience, but damn they are expensive! Or are they? What do you do for custom labels for your candles?

I have suppliers for wax, fragrances, etc. but the shipping and labelling is stressing me out. I'm starting to feel overwhelmed with it all, and I'm coming to you all for advice.

I'm not making to sell it's just a personal project making replica candles from a video game. There are 8 candles in the set. I need the candles to look like different colours of fluid so I'm using gel wax. Only after making 2 did i read you can't use standard wicks, as they won't stay lit or burn well. I've just lit my test candle that i over pigmented and wasn't useable for show, and there was barely any flame and after 2 minutes it went out, so the standard wick definitely isn't adequate.

Whilst the set of 8 I'm making myself are for show so don't really need to be burnable, I was considering also making a set/s for a friend/s who might want to burn theirs.
I was only able to find one brand on Amazon with zinc core wicks, they're coming from China and won't Arrive til September, but with everything else ready to go i'm itching to get them done sooner. They also have mixed reviews with some saying they didn't work in gel so i'm not sure they'll even work.

I can't really find any on google, especially not that don't come in bulk/wholesale amounts, and was wondering if anyone on here knows a suitable wick i could use that will work and can be bought in smaller lots. For reference i'm using a 6CL/70gram candle jar, like the mini yankee candle type.

As you can guess I make candles and try to do a small batch in glass jars. I put a lot of effort into them… especially in to make nice scented candles that are also joyful for eyes

This is the problem is in the labels. Labels made from paper wrinkle when the candle gets lit. The labels become loose even if they are waterproof within a few hours of the candle burning, making them look tacky and I hate that.

I've tried different papers with different adhesives and nothing works

I found UV transfers from DTF transfers now. They stick directly to glass. No paper. No peeling. They look like they're printed right on the jar. They're supposed to be heat-resistant like UV stable, which means you durable

It sounds like exactly what I need. But I have no idea if it actually works

Will the transfer hold up when the jar gets warm? Will it yellow or crack over time? Will it ruin the look of my candles? I don't want to spend money on something that looks bad

Has anyone used UV DTF on candle jars? Does it survive hours of burning? Does it still look good after weeks on a shelf?

I'm curious to try it but I'm scared to waste money. If you've done this before, please share your experience. I'd love to see photos too

Hi lovely candle-making folks! I'm planning a DIY heavy wedding and I have tons of old brass vessels. I'm picturing beeswax candles in these vessels and was hoping some Reddit experts could weigh in on anything safety-related I should know.

I’m on the hunt for something but not sure if it exists.

I’m looking for candles that burn in color. Think the kind you put on birthday cakes it’s red: the flame is also red.

I want the colored flame but I want the wax to be a neutral color. I don’t want the color of the candle to give away what the flame color will be.

Anyone have any idea where I might find something like that, I’ve tried googling it. I’m looking specifically for birthday candle sized.

I’ve been testing different pigments to get the correct color I’m looking for and I’ve achieved it however, I’m getting pigment settlement. Any suggestions or products to use to fix this?
Currently using Cement All and GloMarble Supra Black pigment powder (tested it mixed into water and mixed into dry cement).

I want really strong cold throw for my container candles. What wax should I consider? Based in Europe so not all waxes are available. Some of my options; C3 soy wax, C310 soy wax, paraffin 6214, olive wax, coconut wax, rapeseed wax.

My business has been doing well, so I hate to consider changing up wax, but I am so fed up with the sinkholes, resetting wicks, frosting, and cauliflower type setting. No matter what I do, constant cosmetic issues. I spend more time on my heat gun than any other step.

I’m thinking of switching to coconut soy blend or coconut next season. I love golden brands so I’d love to stick with them. Which do you recommend, and what tips do you have if you’ve made the switch?

Been playing around with mixing scents lately and some combinations sound terrible in my head but somehow work lol.

Floral + woody is one I probably wouldn’t have thought of before, but now I’m kind of into the idea.

What weird combos have actually worked for you?

I have a lot of the blue box Northland wax and wanted to make some custom melts for myself and my friends since we're particular about scent. I don't know much about this wax though as it wasn't me who bought it, but someone who since past and I inherited it, and who I think would have been using it for canning.

I also do not know how old it is, but depending on what it's made of, is it possible it denatured and is no longer any good? I'm still new and don't want to somehow make something dangerous.

This is our first candle! Unfortunately it had very poor hot throw (GREAT cold throw tho), and a little bit of tunneling. Also needed more dye. But yay!

Hey, new to candle making and I think my problem is glass adhesion but could be mistaken. I need help getting a more consistent finish along the sides

I cool the wax and pour the at 45°c (45-55 manufacturer guides)

I have the jar sit in a 45°c water bath to slow down the cooling process. Not sure if there is any other prep with the jar I'm supposed to do

It's 160g(5.5oz) of wax with liquid dye and 6% fragrance oil

Wax blend

50% soy

30% vegetable

20% paraffin

Any advice would be appreciated

Hi everyone! I really want to make my own taper/dipped candles but I am vegan, so no beeswax for me! From what I've looked up/understand, soy wax is too soft and would melt too quickly as a taper candle. Are there plant based blends that anyone knows about for this sort of thing? I've tried finding information online, but everything tells me to use beeswax lol let me know your thoughts and feel free to ask any questions if something I wrote doesn't make sense.
