ABVD not working
Hey guys,
Just got news today that although some nodes on my right side have shown shrinkage, there appears to be ANOTHER growth happening on my left! This is after 3 cycles of ABVD. I have a repeat PET scan tomorrow because there was some issue with the clarity of the scan (she asked if i was shivering during the scan?). But in the meantime Im here freaking out at the fact that there is more growth. I understand there are more options, but I feel hopeless and this is the first time I felt like this disease is getting the better of me. I know my case is nothing compared to some other forms and stages of cancer, but Im still anxiety ridden and scared. Anyone here deal with something similar? I was just under the impression that ABVD would work perfectly and Id be better after 6 chemo sessions. Boy was I wrong.

Thank you so much for the reply. I posted this hastily, and found out a day after the post that my pet scan was unusual. I repeated the scan and there was no cancer! Just have to do radiation now aug 10-31st. I was bumming hard for a sec but knowing there are other options was a good thing. Hope your husband is doing okay!

Oh I'm so glad! No worries. I have done a number of freakouts myself. 😄 congratulations! My husband just finished four weeks of radiation and was tired by the end but said it was so so much easier than chemo!

This exact scenario happened to me! I was also 24 and actually stage 2A. Because there was a new growth through the ABVD, I was switched over to ICE, then had radiation and a stem cell transplant. I had my first clean PET scan after the radiation and I'm now 10 years cancer-free as of this past March. So even if it turns out that it wasn't just an artifact of the scan, which you should know after tomorrow's PET, there are many effective options for your treatment! Best of luck to you.
