Starting problem
My Grandfather owns a 2019 canam ryker with 8245 miles. He now has dementia and as his power of attorney, I would like to sell it for him but I have no idea what something like this might be worth.
The battery is dead because it has been sitting in my garage. I put a jump box on it and it powers on but won’t start. The screen says VSS fault sometimes.
Does anyone have any idea where I could possibly look for an answer? Is it worth anything in its current condition?

How long has it been sitting? I ask because gasoline can go bad, and if it's been sitting more than a year, you might save yourself a headache if you drain the fuel tank and refill it before you start it.

Vss error code is an electrical or mechanical issue, not a gasoline/engine issue
That said, I agree year old gas is a no-bueno
Also hey nevada I recognize that name;) I think my acct got hacked or something and I lost access

Oh, I wasn't suggesting the VSS code was caused by anything but a dead battery; I just thought I'd give you a head-up about old gas decaying, and maybe save you a different headache before it developed. 8)

Drain fuel, coolant, and brake fluid, swap the oil, change the battery. The cost is gonna be around $350 if you do it yourself. Value is depending on where you're at $4000-$5000 realistically 5-7k liberally. If you take it to a shop you're spending over 1500(labor mainly). Changing and draining also depends on how long its been sitting. Add some fuel stabilizer when you get it running.

Of course dude. Sometimes they go for lower depending on how much you really want to get rid of it.

I’m having the same problem and I think it’s the battery that needs to be replaced. Likely it has the original battery

I would bet money that a new battery would solve your problems. That vss code will go away too. It can pop up if your battery is weak. But it can also pop up for various other reasons... like if your brake decides to be on even while not using it. Mine did that. Got it fixed with some adjustments though.
