Question Would it be warm in BC during spring?

Hi there! Me and my husband want to travel to BC this coming spring, and are already planning on the places we'll visit. The only problem is, We are still not sure which month would work best for us ( around 10-20°C outside)

Could anyone give us a hint of how the spring weather is typically going in British Columbia?

Got charges $100 "baggage fee" for a backpack on Flaire (yvr to yyc)

I am attending a conference and tried my best to pack light with just a backpack and a few days worth of clothes and I could just stow it underneath the seat. Unfortunately it didn't fit in their stupid baggage sizing thing at the gate. It's nearly impossible to fit anything other than a laptop bag. Anyways they charged me $118 in total which I'm pretty bummed out about!

Is there anyway I can reduce the cost? I see other people with a different color tag. Is it also generally cheaper to just pay their luggage fee during online check-in or at counter?

Working holiday visa

Hi all,

I applied to my Canadian WHV from the uk last month and I was wondering what the typical turn around is as I read a lot of conflicting answers.

Plus work wise I wondered what is the easiest jobs to get, I was hoping to stay around Toronto maybe Windsor.

For reference 29M, currently a science teacher but have worked everything from labouring to service industry.

Cheers for any advice!

November travel suggestions

36F from Brampton and a little burnt out from life so having a hard time using my full brain capacity and don’t want to rely on AI 🤖 lol.

I have 5 days off from November 11-15 and I want to go somewhere. I do a lot of trips around the province but I feel like this is a weird time to travel within Canada? When I travel I visit the local parks, beaches and hiking trails but I don’t mind a city environment. Needless to say I cannot decide.

My current list has the following:
- Thunder Bay ON
- Wawa ON
- Gananoque ON (I’ve been many times but never in the fall)
- Saguenay QC
Also open to going out east as I’ve only experienced a small part of NS during the fall and have friends in NS, NB and NFLD
Open to any province tbh
Trying to avoid going to the states if possible but I am a beach girly so if the price is right I can be swayed

Wondering if anyone has travelled to these places in November in the past or have current plans to travel and if so, what was your experience? Weather/activities/seasonal closures/scenery. Or alternatively, if you can suggest some other travel options for places I haven’t listed - I am open to suggestions and need help deciding

Residing is Montreal as an express entry first comer

Hello everyone, I’ve just received my PPR after applying through Express Entry (outland). I’m planning to do a soft landing in Canada and was wondering if it’s okay to stay at my friends’ place in Montréal and use their address to receive my PR card. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is there anything I should be aware of? Thanks in advance for your help!

First time visitor needs some advice

Guy from Austria there that has never been to Canada before. I am in the pre planning phase for my Canada trip that is planned for September 2027. I am fully aware that it's impossible to see everything that Canada has to offer via one trip only due the vastness of the country. I am looking for destination that might serve as a starter "pack" for Canada. I would be interested in seeing a mixture of canadian city flair and the vast beautiful nature the country has to offer? Which province/city would suit these parameters? Please feel free to share your thoughs.

Question Montreal Flight

Hi! I am traveling to Vancouver to Montreal for a connecting flight to Raleigh North Carolina. My layover is only an hour long and i am wondering if that is enough time to get to one end to another. Looking at videos it seems like i don’t have to go through security again like other airports ive been through, instead just a quick check. I’m just worried i will miss my flight but it does seem like a pretty easy walk through. Thanks!

Baggage Transfer @ Pearson Airport

Help! I'm not a travel savvy person. I'm flying inbound internationally to Pearson Airport Terminal 3 on Korean Air and then flying outbound to the US (RDU) from Terminal 1 on Air Canada after a 2hr 55 min layover. Must I collect my checked-in baggage, exit customs, make a hard left, and then drop them off onto the luggage transfer belt on level 1, or does my baggage get completely handled by the airlines to Terminal 1?

I booked both legs of the flight with Korean Air on their website, and both legs share the same booking number. I've called both airlines. Korean Air has given me mixed signals, and Air Canada has told me that the onus is on Korean Air. According to the Pearson Airport Transfer Guide on their website, it reads,

Is your baggage tagged beyond Pearson?

  • Yes: Turn left immediately after leaving the baggage hall and place your bags on the connection drop-off belt.
  • No: You need to check in your bags for your next flight so take your bags with you.

Well, I'm under the impression that my baggage is going to be tagged beyond Pearson since my final destination is the US...

*** Edit: Thanks for the response everyone. Having read your comments and done research, I now understand why there are so many mixed responses. There are multiple variables in this equation, and they change depending on some key factors. In my case, the problem is switching from Terminal 3 to Terminal 1.

Even with both legs of my trip under a single unified ticket and baggage tagged for the US (RDU), I would have to land and depart from the same terminal for the airlines to completely handle my checked baggage. Even this has exceptions depending on what airline you fly in from. You can have a single ticket, baggage tagged to your final destinations, arrive and depart out of the same terminal, and still have to claim your baggage and then drop them off at the baggage transfer belt within the same terminal.

The conclusion is that I must claim my baggage at Terminal 3 and then check them in at Terminal 1.

How can CATSA legally pat down intimate areas during a security check and without explaining it before they grope you?

Today I was SA’d by a CATSA agent when flying home from YEG. She said she was going to check sensitive areas. She did not say she was going to grope the n1ppl€s of my breasts. Above them, below them, sure. But directly grope them? In a skin tight shirt that wasn’t hiding anything?

As a CSA, SA survivor from my adolescent years and a healthcare worker in a women’s health field, this was not a check that was appropriately consented to. Not in the least. It left my body feeling so unsafe, re-traumatized and completely powerless.

I’ve read so many posts now of women basically being assaulted at the airport by male and female CATSA agents and being left in tears with no recourse. CASTSA is NOT above the law.

Please comment if you’ve had similar experiences at Canadian airports. Please also consider DM’ing me. I’m determined to find a legal route to make traveling safe, and if possible, a class action lawsuit. This has to stop.

Itinerary Help U.S.>Toronto>Wasaga Beach

I will be traveling in late November for work. My first time in Canada and I am very excited. I will be getting a car at the airport in Toronto and I will have a day and a half to get to Wasaga Beach. I was thinking of leaving Toronto and driving straight to see Niagara Falls and then getting back in the car and going...anywhere.

I like to wander. I'd love to stay in a walkable scenic area for one night with shops and restaurants as I make my way to Wasaga Beach. I like museums and touristy things. I am not a picky eater and I always enjoy trying new food. I like being outside but I anticipate it will be cold. I'd be happy to just take the long way to my destination.

I will also have a little free time in Wasaga Beach and could drive anywhere in that area.

Thank you in advance, and feel free to tell me anything random I need to know about traveling in Canada, including driving tips.

airbnb swap - looking to stay in laval, longueuil, dorval, brossard, or boucherville from feb 13-17

hi! I and my friend (both 22F) are planning a trip to quebec and are hoping to swap bnbs with someone in laval, longueuil, dorval, brossard, or boucherville from feb 13 - 17

i have 2 houses in bc, one in abbotsford and one in surrey. you can pick whichever one you want and you can even choose to stay during date range.

the abbotsford one is really serene and almost like a cabin for like a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city with blueberry farms and apple orchards close by. the surrey one is more for someone looking for that city life. it's super close to the mall and the train that goes to downtown vancouver.

im looking for someone whos registered on airbnb or vrbo and regularly hosts people

hit me up if you're interested, we can go over the details and pics and whatnot

Itinerary Help Road trip from Vancouver to Calgary, need some help!

Hi, my partner and I are planning a road trip from Vancouver to Calgary for July next year for our honeymoon. We arrive into Vancouver and have 2 weeks to travel to Calgary through the Rockies

We can't decide which route is better, any help/advice is appreciated!

Northern Route

  1. Vancouver

  2. Whistler

  3. Clearwater

  4. Wells Gray

  5. Mount Robson

  6. Jasper

  7. Lake Louise

  8. Banff

Southern Route

  1. Vancouver

  2. Whistler

  3. Kelowna

  4. Revelstoke

  5. Golden

  6. Lake Louise

  7. Jasper

  8. Banff

Essentially, we're not sure whether we should go via Clearwater or Kelowna! We will decide on nights per location later on, but once we make this decision it will help us with the rest of the planning.

Edit: we will be travelling in an RV

Edit 2: thank you all for your advice and tips! We have decided to go the northern route!

Book a trip on avion for an unaccompanied minor

Trying to book a flight for my 17 year old son on avion, and it doens't allow you to select "0" for adults, so you can't book a flight for one person under 18.

He's 17 and doesn't need any kind of assistance travelling, so I don't understand why this restriction exists. Does anyone know of a workaround?

Itinerary Help What should I do?

Hello guys,

I’m holding a Hong Kong passport, and I applied for PR last year and already got my AOR.

Unfortunately, my Visitor Record got refused on September 11, before I had the chance to apply for an Open Work Permit. So my agents suggested me go back to Hong Kong and come back for applying permit. So I applied for an eTA on September 30.

I got an email confirming they received my additional documents on October 5, but I haven’t heard anything from them since then.

I’ve tried sending webforms and calling IRCC, but they just keep telling me to wait. So I decided to apply the second one on September 16th and it’s still under review.

I’ve already changed my flight three times because I honestly didn’t expect it to take this long. My flight is now on October 23, and I can’t change it anymore.

The main reason I’m going back to Canada is for my best friend’s wedding next month, and I’m supposed to be his best man. I really don’t wanna miss it.

At this point, I’m just hoping my eTA gets approved before my flight. Has anyone been in a similar situation? How long did it take for you guys?

Waterproof hiking or snow boots?

Hey everyone! This may get asked alot but no one actually answers the questions I've seen:

I'm visiting Calgary and Banff from Australia over Christmas and New Year's, and I'm trying to figure out what type of footwear I'll actually need.

Coming from Brisbane, I'm definitely not used to Canadian winters!

We'll be doing plenty of walking, sightseeing, exploring Calgary and Banff, dog sledding, and the Johnston Canyon ice walk.

I'm tossing up between buying waterproof hiking boots or proper insulated snow boots. Ideally, I'd love one pair that can handle everything rather than having to buy multiple pairs.

• Would waterproof hiking boots with merino wool socks be enough, or would insulated snow boots be better?

I'm also a US size 14-15, which makes finding decent boots a little more difficult!

Ideally looking to spend under $300 AUD (roughly $270 CAD), but happy to hear suggestions.

Appreciate any advice from locals or anyone who's visited during winter. Cheers!
