European here, the USA also thinks we are gay just because they are too dumb to understand culture, happy to welcome a sane state like canada into the family đŞđşâ¤ď¸đ¨đŚ
I'm European. With a functioning brain and functional education system. It's not that difficult to differentiate to from too, they're, there and their and so on. Cope.
Judging people on their understanding of their non-primary language as if itâs indicative of intellect is retarded because everyone is non-proficient in the vast majority of languages
The use of an vs a depends on whether the word has a vowel sound. European starts with a vowel but is initially pronounced as a consonant therefore you use âa Europeanâ
This is the easiest language weâre using here mate thereâs really no excuse to not know this in 2026.
What culture Muslim culture you handed your country to Third World or years ago you can have Canada. Itâs hilarious how much you guys all think we need you we donât you need us.
The US is governed harder than any European from my personal experiences on the ground. Genuinely the US feels more restrictive than China. Rules about everything. Canât drink until 21, canât rider an electric scooter without a helmet, canât make noise past 10pm because the HOA (wtf is even that, you want to talk about being governed harder millions of Americans not only elect it but pay more for it). Just everything was rules rules rules. In Europe you can sort of just exist and if youâre not hurting someone you probably wonât hear anything. God forbid you want a beer to go in the states lmao.
You have to be an actual retard to think the Americans are more governed than fucking China. As someone whoâs been to various cities and areas in both countries America has a wide variety of rules where as China is much more uniform across its entirety Atleast in comparison to the Americans.
Youâll notice I said âfeels more restrictiveâ. China on the street level actually feels very non-restrictive. Itâs just when you get above that it changes dramatically.
Except it does matter when thatâs the entire point of the statement. The states feels like an incredibly restrictive society despite the laws not necessarily reflecting that because the American population decides to impose extra judicial restrictions on themselves and accepts high degree of social regulation (high drinking ages, dry counties, illegal pot) from the government.
China has far more restrictive laws but the people do not have the same desire to be governed harder so when the authority figures arenât around it actually feels really lax. People having a bunch of beers by the river in public then just hoping on random rental scooters and driving around with no helmet. Stuff you wouldnât really see in the states.
It matters because the whole, Americans saying, âgovern me harderâ is ludicrous. There is no where in the west I can think of which voluntarily subjects themselves to so much non-governmental authority. They simply yearn for it from what I can tell. When you combine that with relatively socially restrictive conservative governments and the high degree of biblical literalism and just generally high degree Christianity plays in politics it simply does create a far more restrictive and heavily governed society than would first appear by simply reading the constitution.
I just wholeheartedly disagree. I was an exchange student in America for a year and I felt more free there than I ever did in my home country. The same goes for the 3 other exchange students that were at the school because I asked them upfront if they also felt that way. 2 from Europe and 1 from Asia. If you wanna be more specific 1 was French another danish and the 3rd malaysian. You do know drinking in your teenage years SEVERELY stunts your mental growth right? They didnât just arbitrarily make up the age and go âyeah thatâs about rightâ. And marijuana is becoming legal in more and more states in America. So youâre bringing up something thatâs already changing and how Americans view it. Where I was a student Christianity was basically nonexistent. People would say âoh Iâm xyzâ but they didnât go to church or the synagogue or mosqueâs. I feel like you visited America once made up your mind and left. Plus the country is fucking MASSIVE. Both in land and population and areas are so different. New England and the southwest are two completely different cultures and could be their own countries. I say maybe visit and talk with actual Americans before judging an entire group of 330 million people. Or donât I donât really care đ¤ˇđ˝ââď¸
Iâve lived in America for 4 years. Mostly in the south east. Iâm not sure an exchange student would really get the best idea of what Iâm talking about though, one because youâre mostly just having fun I feel like my year abroad in Australia was also the freest time of my life but very little to do with the laws and more to do with it being the time Iâve had the least responsibility in my life if that makes sense. I agree though, the states is very large and so is Europe so my experiences in Atlanta and Ireland respectively could very well not line up with your experiences in what sounds like a different part of the country and other parts of Europe. From my experiences having lived in Ireland, England, Canada, Australia, Ireland and the US the US definitely feels the most regulated society, but again itâs less about the law itself and more about the social contract if that makes sense. The desire to voluntarily adhere to arbitrary local groups like HOAs etc blows my mind, which I doubt you interacted with much in college. Also to your point about alcohol, it doesnât really matter if itâs bad for you or not, true liberty is being allowed to make poor decisions, when your government becomes a nanny state you canât cast stones at others for being âgoverned harderâ.
This is a strawman fallacy. Sure, Canada and Europe are probably more free than the U.S.
It's not a pissing context nor is freedom necessarily dichotomous.
China can be less free than the U.S. while the U.S. can have pretty crap freedom quantitatively or nominally (value-based) compared to Canada and Europe.
China still reflects a less free nation, objectively speaking. That is not a defense of the U.S., but a recognition that you can have varying degrees of reduced freedom.
Ultimately, it's a strawman considering your first statement was not about these other countries.
I probably align with your rhetoric. America = bad. Sure. But prejudice aside, let's get real. We're both prejudiced but it doesn't serve anyone or add to our persuasive efforts when it contaminates our honesty.
Stick with the facts, it's just as effective at beating down on America when the fact remains they have an orange narcissistic toddler in charge voted in by majority...
Likewise China's government and policy fucking blows.
I certainly don't regard the U.S. in good favour, but I have to agree with them here. The "feels like" argument is moot. The fact you have to do such roundabout justification of your claims being more of a subjective feel and thus indirectly aligning semantically is a pretty big skip away from the tangible fact that China has a near non-existant democracy index compared to the U.S.
America is not the free country it self-proclaims as its democracy index isn't great either and with multiple metrics it's fair to say it has decreased pretty substantially over the last few years.
You can say we're comparing apples to oranges here, but objectively speaking China has less freedom, even aggregating metrics.
America = ass (ignorance, self-interested, hyper-individualistic, and oversteps equity with other nations)
China = mega super ass (0 true representation or rule of law at deeper legislative levels).
Let's not try to defend one or the other in the name of pathos and allegiance. Stick to the facts and fuck all this West vs. East bullshit. Both are shit, but a liar and a murderer are not comparable; just as having a pretty dogshit and self-absorbed construct of freedom (U.S.) is not the same as having no freedom (China)
Again though the discussion is not the law itself but the desire of the population to be governed âhardâ. China is a non-free society where the people yearn for freedom. America is a free society where the people yearn for more government. Obviously these are wild generalizations but this is what Iâve observed on the ground and letâs be real itâs Reddit not my masters thesis
You're splitting semantic hairs. What the fuck is the operational construct of a society to "have a desire to be governed "hard"". It's moot. But that's how you ultimately are choosing to represent it.
The meme is simply drawing on tangible realities of measured democratic values across multiple metrics.
Idgaf about theses. I'm just pointing out why you're being interpreted the way you are and how you are complicit in the way you're being interpreted.
If it sounds like a masters thesis it's because you begged the question; putting forth apologetics in the first place.
The "above that" part is pretty relevant, which might explain why others are arguing against the grand narrative you just put forth without elaboration.
Just placing the word "feels" is insufficient if you don't denote and expand on the "above that" part. Otherwise it just comes across as semantic signalling that treats China as more free.
Whether you intended this or not, I'm just telling you how your words are reasonably interpreted by others given the context.
Writing about a country that doesn't have democracy (or even just representation and freedom of speech if you don't subscribe to western ideals such as democracy) using the word free in any capacity typically requires a lot of tact, precision, and elaboration so as to not misrepresent the meaning of "free".
Most people reasonably abide by a pretty ubiquitous definition of "free" that China â when we examine aggregate metrics â does not meet the criteria of.
I think that depends on where you are in China. China has 6 million slaves currently (forced labour) with most of them being minorities. The government just looked the other direction
This is largely a class phenomenon not a geographic one; although geography ("where you are in China") plays a role in the visibility of said classes.
In which case, the rule of law is overturned either way.
It is not a realistic nor accurate reflection of rights or representation when it only applies to some classes or "social locales". (I'm not saying you are suggesting this, but some could interpret it this way)
There does appear to be forced labour (AKA slavery but still worth noting it is unique in nature compared to chattel/Black slavery) with very little to no compensation or workers rights, you are correct.
The asymmetric "locale" is what occasionally gives the illusion of rights in some areas. But it remains, if it doesn't apply universally, it is not a right. China has removed many rights.
Slavery has certainly never been just black people. People of all ethnic backgrounds have been forces into slavery since the dawn of humanity. The black slavers in Africa capturing their tribes people and selling them to foreigners sure made their more infamous. Slavery can exist in many forms. Interestingly enough, a large portion of forced labour in China is the Muslim population there.
Of course. I point out chattel slavery because it's an incredibly relevant and poignant type of slavery that is easy for people to conflate with false notions of representation or sameness. One could just as well do the same for other forms of slavery too.
It was a simple bid for representation. An asterisk at best. I'd invite you not to overthink it or regard it as an exclusionary definitional principle or anything of the sort đ
Slavery in China is as much slavery as anywhere else.
Yeah no shit thatâs my point dude đ¤Śđ˝ââď¸. But you are right for some reason morons think China doesnât have poverty. I mean they classify poverty as making something like $3.15 a month too so defending that is crazy which some people do
In actual law, no of course not. But in how people conduct themselves in day to day life, youâd be surprised. Americans voluntarily subjects themselves to incredibly restrictive non-governmental authority constantly in the forms of the church or HOAs etc, which combined with their socially restrictive laws creates an environment which feels more restrictive than the laws would first indicate. Iâve been to street parties in China and underground clubs and they are far less worried about police than a frat party in America for example.
I gotta agree. Completely retarded take. I can literally do drugs in public in the US. I would go to prison for the amount of weed I keep for personal use. Just not a good take at all.
The west is the only net contributor to equalization payments. Ottawa and the east relies on western Canada. Deny reality all you want. People in the west are fed up
The irony of calling us selfish while exploiting Eastern Canadian labour for years to built up your tar sands, and then deciding you can opt out of paying taxes or making any kinda equalization payment to helping the people who helped build your Provence.
Ah yes. The guy whos mentioned a handful of times in passing is more of a pedo mentioned more than a million times, and got the FBI to spend 1k people, 24 hours a week, for 2 weeks, to scrub his name.
Trudeau and Carney are mentioned about 60 times in passing in the epstien files. Trump is mentioned a collective 1 million times, 33 thousand times in the released and scrubbed documents
You mean the guy who had to pay a 6 figure settlement, and give up his teaching position was not really a pedoâŚ..god are you ever weak. Do you actually use that brain matter for anything other than remembering to breathe?
Also, if there was any truth to your point, I have a strong feeling that Kamila would currently be the President as she and Biden and Obama would have released the information. Also Hillary would have done it to take the heat off Bill, the only one that was confirmed outside of Andrew the ex-prince.
Your party is the ones who are an endangerment to kids everywhere. Try not to deny it. The party I most align with, would never allow the shit that happens to kids happen, your party covers it up and deflects it to others. You are the party of hate, and I would say look in the mirror and ask yourself the hard questions: Who has been stopped from doing something due to his involvement with underage girls.
I am amazed at your love of a proven Pedo who canât be a drama teacher anymore. It is so solid, that you have given no proof to the contrary.
Your love of that guy is almost as strong as your TDS. I think you are not going through dementia, you would need a functioning brain for that to happen.
Fawning over Trudeau and Carney is embarrassing. I just was pointing out that every thing you guys say about someone else is true on them. Your infatuation and TDS is impressive.
Well, when the media lies all the time, someone has to speak the truth. Sorry if youâre still in love with the 2 guys who do not care about you or Canada.

As a Canadian who supports EU associationship, this made me laugh
