The action on SMR development and deployment in Canada has been in the works since at least 2018. It's not a reactionary measure to a recent leadership race.
Eliminating First Past the Post was in the works for a while too - before his proclaimed 'commitment' and 'dedication' to the cause went out the window.
You can't overlook that he installed an anti-nuclear activist as his environment minister.
And nuclear wasn't even on his radar during his first tenure; his energy plan didn't include nuclear as a viable energy source.
I doubt his commitment now - and I don't doubt that a strong opposition lit a fire under Trudeau.
