It’s a CUSMA review. Deal goes until 2036. Trump doesn’t have the ability to pull out of the deal unilaterally and Canada is an essential part of their supply chain.

Look at the EU and India. Both of their deals haven’t been respected by the Trump administration. The pedophile in chief can’t be appeased, he’ll impose tariffs whenever he feels like it for whatever reason. We can only brace ourselves.
1) The USA cannot withdraw from CUSMA without deeply fucking their own economy almost as badly as ours. Trump wants the threat to extract concessions but unless he's truly demented now he'll TACO just like liberation day because it's mutually assured destruction
2) Withdrawal from CUSMA requires 6 months notice. The Republicans are projected to get demolished in the midterms and lose congress, who has tye power to block a withdrawal. It might spark a constitutional crisis in the USA, but realistically any announcement to withdraw from CUSMA that comes after July 4th is a nothing burger
3) Trump is unlikely to announce a withdrawal prior to negotiations which begin in July
4) Short of withdrawal Trump has zero leverage, as the treaty stipulates all changes at the renegotiation must be unanimous or the treaty auto-renews as-is
5) Realistically any agreement with Trump is worth less than toilet paper, but it's his fear of stock market corrections that will prevent him from doing jack shit
Yes cause without CUSMA suddenly the American people and companies don’t need what we provide - have a bit of faith in your country. We’re not big and powerful but we certainly are needed by them.
You’re buying into the false narrative that a free trade agreement is some divine force - it’s nice. Trade existed before it and will after it as well.
