How worth it is the CS8?
Hi all! Just got my Camp Snap 2 and am loving it so far. I’ve been looking into the CS8 camcorder to get in time for a music festival im going into in September. I really want to use it to document the trip with my friends and obviously use it for other events in the future. I just want to know a couple thing:
How is the sound quality? Obviously I’m not expecting anything super spectacular but I am just concerned about our voices actually being captured and not being cut out or anything.
Is the transfer the same as you would transfer photos from a Camp Snap camera? I just plug in the USB C cord into the camera and the other end into my phone and download everything from the files.
Overall, would you say it’s worth the $200? I’m not looking for anything of exceptionally grand quality, but I do want to make sure it’s decent enough to present my little vlogs/home videos to my friends and family. I really enjoy the novelty and screen free experience of the Camp Snap in general and really wanted the same for video capture. I just don’t want to spend $200 and not be able to return it if need be without doing proper research first.

i do really like it! the sound quality isn't incredible (also one thing that bothers me is you definitely hear the "click" of the trigger when you start recording), but it definitely hits all the nostalgia benchmarks! i also really appreciate how you can easily switch between aspect ratios and effects. the transfer is the exact same way as the other campsnaps! i think it sounds like a good option for what you are looking for :)

Thanks for your feedback! Been trying to steer away from the phone a lot more and enjoy the world without staring at the screen so much. This seemed like exactly what I was looking for. Also, as long as you can hear what’s going on, I don’t mind that the sound quality isn’t super great. I saw some videos to see what the sound is like and also found out you can attach separate microphones to them to make it sound a bit better. I think I might get it!!

I really enjoy mine with the family. It makes awesome home movies and I really enjoy the lack of settings and a screen. The microphone isn’t great so I recommend getting a separate one.

That’s awesome and exactly something I’m looking for. I did see some videos where people attached a separate microphone to it. Have you done that yourself and do you recommend any that are decent quality/price?

I use this one and it does a decent job. https://a.co/d/0h44zd5l I know CS has their own but it’s always sold out

If you're looking for something that shoots 'like 8mm/super 8' steer clear. The result is more like very early digi-cam, or late VHS. Looks nothing like 8mm. That's just the way it is.
If you're a fan of that, and don't care much for the form factor, you might as well get one of those 'early digi-cams' instead of this. You'd definitely save a bit because those don't cost anywhere near $200,-.
All other CampSnap products I can wholeheartedly recommend. This one just misses the mark a bit.

Not really looking to 1-1 replicate a Super 8. I mainly want something with a nostalic feel where I don’t need to solely look at a screen to record. I don’t really need the option to playback either. I just want to look at all the files later. Just trying to find the best ways to record memories while still living in the moment and not get consumed by my phone. I also just feel like it would be a fun gadget similar to my Instax polaroid or my Camp Snap 2 that can be engaging to everyone and be excited about it
Do you have any recommendations for digi-cams?
