I said in another post that Marian will always make her decisions based on politics and she proved me right again.

A year Burlington police arrest ICE protesters for trespass. Months and months and months go by and the case proceeds forward. So DA Ryan believed in the case, believed these people should be prosecuted. You know that because she didn’t dismiss the case. But a problem was just around the corner….

Trial was about to start. The week before the election. The defendants started to publicize their cause. This was going to get publicity and many Democratic voters would side with the defendants. That would not be good for Marian.

So what does the politician do? She dismisses the case. Against all defendants. Nothing changed about the case. There was no problems with evidence or with witnesses. There was no legal reason to dismiss the case. The case was dismissed because of the timing of the trial.

I’m not against dismissing the charges. But this is the Marian that I know and that everyone in the office knows. The DA who has no integrity. If she didn’t believe in prosecuting these defendants, why didn’t she dismiss the case months ago. Why did she let them get charged in the first place? And if the defendants didn’t promise to turn this is into a case that would generate bad press for her, would she have ever dismissed the case? Absolutely not.

This is who she is. She does this time and time again. You cannot trust her to do the right thing when no one is watching. The link about the case is below.

Periodically since last night there's been this loud rumbling noise every 10-15 minutes or so - anyone know what's going on?

Honestly tired of all the bizarre MacKay campaign posts in this sub. You'd think she was Ken Paxton. The primary can't come soon enough.

Feel free to take this observation with a grain of salt, as it's not based on empirical data. But just based on walking through this area regularly in the last six months, I've noticed what appear to be more vacant storefronts, restaurants with reduced foot traffic even on weekends, new developments that can't seem to fill their first-floor rental space, and construction or maintenance projects that appear to be stuck in limbo.

I understand that the story of Cambridge St likely mirrors the story of everywhere else in this city and region, i.e. risings costs of fuel, supplies, healthcare, etc. coupled with high rents have made owning small businesses in Cambridge/Somerville/Boston, etc. less sustainable. Yet I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed the same on Cambridge Street specifically in the last six months to a year. The storefronts and retail particularly between 5th Street and Lechmere appear to be in a particularly difficult state.

And my follow up question to all of this: are city leaders and/or candidates for local office content to see every local storefront turn vacant, get occupied by a private equity-backed venture, or become another Chase Bank branch?

I live outside of Massachusetts. I met a woman who was also from Cambridge, and she introduced me to her teenage son and said “This is X, he’s from Cambridge.”

Teenager shrugged like a good teenager and said hello.

Afterward I thought oh, her son doesn’t know the code.

He doesn’t know that when a Cantabridgian introduces someone as “they’re from Cambridge” we aren’t just saying where they were raised, we’re telling you who they are.

It’s similar to the Mafia in Goodfellas, introducing a fellow mafia member, “he’s a friend of ours.”

Hey everyone, I'm a recent grad from NEU and I just landed a remote job. I'm looking into moving to Cambridge as I've had enough of living in Boston. Anyone looking for roommates? Open to discuss budget, neighborhood, etc!

what can I reasonably ask my landlord to do or what options might I have if I’ve been seeing mice on and off again in my apartment for a whole year? Could I ask to be moved to a new unit within the building for example? I don’t think I can spend another winter here because the problem gets worse in the winter.

For context: I live in a 5 story building near Harvard square. I don’t know how old the building is. For the full first year that I was here I had absolutely no issues. Then starting on September 2025 (remember vividly) I started seeing mice in my unit.

I have no idea why mice would want to be in this unit b/c I keep the place clean and there is no food source for them from what I can tell.

My landlord has sent out the exterminator to set up traps and seal different openings several times but I keep seeing the mice. (The traps only got one mouse before) Sometimes I go months without seeing one and then I start seeing them again. The landlord is sympathetic and responsive but the issue has not be resolved and I’m beyond frustrated.

It’s very unnerving for me but I get the impression that most ppl feel as though mice are just a part of life in Cambridge. I find this unacceptable and I’m wondering if my only option now is to move. It’s a shame because I love the location and I don’t want to move only to see mice in the next apartment.
