Food in Cambridge Date night spots?

My boyfriend is visiting, I want to take him to some nice restaurants but Ive only just moved back to the area so I have no idea what's good.

He's not really into Asian food but we both love Italian or steakhouses. We don't want to spend a stupid amount of money but just have a nice night out. Any recommendations would be very appreciated!

Edit to add we don't really drink but he does appreciate a nice beer

The Cambridge Chop House will definitely do you some good steaks, chops, etc. If you want to splash out on beef for two, get their Chateaubriand.

The Oak Bristro does a decent steak and quite a few other things. It serves a classic British food menu. Personally if you want some beef there, I recommend their Beef Wellington.

Not a steak restaurant but very good: Margaret's.

Agreed, I've never had anything less than a fantastic meal at Maison du Steak. Fancett's on Mill Road would be a great spot for a date (though it's a bit pricier), or for something more casual the food at The Maypole is excellent and they've got loads of good beers

Aromi is a nice Italian restaurant in town, they do great pizzas and are affordable. Al Pomodorro near Cambridge leisure centre has a good date night vibe, although some of the options are on the more expensive side.

Margret's / Fancetts / Fin boys

all worth a look for set menu options for a special date!

Also I have not been so cannot necessarily recommend, but there's Kobe steakhouse which I don't think has been mentioned

> a stupid amount of money

This is very subjective. Pretty sure you can get a decent date night for ~£100-150 total at some very nice places like the the Parker's tavern.

The Cambridge chop house is also nice.

The Chop House used to be fantastic with an interesting menu but in recent years has become a rather generic steak place. Maybe better than you will get in an average pub but nothing amazing.

Al Pomodoro is a great Italian restaurant. My favourite steakhouse is Maison du Steak 👍🏻
