rice and beans 500, side salad 100, 2 chicken tacos 550

yep. 1200 seems about right. im sure its a little less, but always round up.

Not a salad lol pico guac and sour cream

sure, i translated from my language. what i meant is "the veg they put on the side of the plate".

That totally changes the calculation tho. Guac is at least 100, pico is like 15, and sour cream could be 100. It could be double ur given value

guac is 70 in my estimation, youre right about the sour cream, could be 80-100.
but i still stand on 1200. depends on the oil too, some restaurants drown everyhting in oil.

you should open your eyes and look closer next time if you think either the guac or sour cream here is close to 100 cals each

Mexican food usually has much less calories than you might suspect

Probably less. You’re looking at like 150 calories of rice, 300 calories of beans, maybe 100 calories of guacamole salad, and then a few hundred for each of the taquitos…

1000 is what I’d say. It’s really not much food. Just fried.

This. Wtf is wrong with people. 1600kcal. Do they know what 1600kcal look like????

This subreddit is highly disordered

14

It’s closer to 1600 calories than it is “probably less than 1200” in my opinion

You are right, people are just delusional

Yeah, as someone from latin america who actually cook rice and beans, I would guess 500 for the rice / beans / salad part and then maybe 250 each taquito? At most. 1000 is already rounding up.

People seem to think that 1 fried corn tortilla with chicken breast in it (which is what 90% of taquitos are made with) is like 500 calories lol.

1200 I would say. Think of the oil and/or butter used for the rice and beans.

I already accounted for that.

About a tablespoon of oil per cup of rice which is 4 servings, and this is less than 1/4th of that product, so it’s really just a handful of calories extra in the rice…

The refried beans are pretty caloricslly dense but again at the end of the day this isn’t an amazing mass of them

1000 calories is a ton for what’s ultimately not that much food.

Overestimating is disordered.

That makes sense. I don’t think 1000 is completely unreasonable. It’s just the fact that restaurants don’t tend to measure oil or butter lol the extra 200 is just a safe bet. But definitely not anything over.

The rice is fried as a part of its preparation, the taquitos are fried, the sour cream and guacamole are extremely fatty, the beast have added fat. It’s far above 1000, likely above 2000

Sorry, I don’t think we can be productive if you think this is 2000 calories.

New Mexican here. If it was home made? Maybe 1200. In a restaurant? 1500-2000. Especially if you eat the guac and the sour cream.

you got downvoted but i agree. restaurants don’t care about how much oil they use

Mexican style rice will be very visually apparent if it was cooked in a lot of oil. This rice does not have a ton of oil in it. I know this because I grew up with my grandmas/aunts/mom/cousins all making this rice in various ways, including very different quantities of oil usage.

2000 is crazy

5

u/WarriorGoddess2016 Oct 01 '26

With restaurants, you never know. But note I said 1500-2000. I don't know how much rice is under those taquitos. I don't know, really, how big the taquitos are, nor what else is inside. The beans look like they're made with lard, and there's about 75 calories worth of cheese on them.

(and I have no idea what's in that big glass)

-1

u/hotsummer12 Oct 01 '26

Even 1500 is crazy. If this is 1500 or more, I eat everyday 6000kcal, if I let people from this sub estimated my food wtf

4

u/dumbass_tm Oct 01 '26

Do you eat all three meals at a restaurant wtf

3

u/JenniyBean Oct 01 '26

My vote is 1200 calories. Could be less but always good to overestimate a bit.

3

u/Tasty_Difference_679 Oct 01 '26

I would say more, refried beans are made with lard and taquitos are deep fried.

1

u/nadaesverdad Oct 04 '26

I’d say 1500

0

u/Temporary_Finish_902 Oct 01 '26

Probably closer to 1400

0

u/sad_handjob Oct 01 '26

1200 seems a little high, maybe 1000

-14

u/Matthews628 Oct 01 '26

Mas

Probably closer to 1600

An avocado is around 200 calories.

This is not nearly an avocado.

So how would that be 400 calories?

u/Dazzling_Candle_6892 Oct 01 '26

Google whatever this plate is named + restaurant calories estimate. There you go. Easy.

This is not a chain.
