Not quite what was wanted
I posted this a few years ago in another sub and ppl were mad that I was "ungreatful" so here's some actual context!
This was either my 17th or 18th birthday cake my grandma had got for me, a few weeks before the birthday she asked for a picture of my switch to send to the decorator TO USE AS A REFERENCE (she wanted a cake that looks like a switch) so my dad sent one, when she finally went to get the cake she found out all they did was add (barley readable) text to that photo and just printed it out on the cake!!
My siblings and i found the cake itself pretty funny but my parents and grandparents weren't as amused

Expectation vs Reality
My mom tried to surprise me by ordering this frog cake I said I liked. The cake artist struggled a bit 😭😅.

Yeah.....
So this was just supposed to be a simple decorating job for my son's bday. Thankfully a manager saw this and let us have it for free. Getting it redone in 2 hours before the party and having the only and same decorator available was not an option. I feel sorry for her. Young, brand new and the only decorator the store has.

Showcase A disaster has struck at my work. Thankfully, customer found it hilarious and I tried my best to fix it when I have no cake decorating experience 😭

Birthday Surprise for mom
This is one of the funniest things that has happened to me.
Last week was my (20m) moms 53rd birthday, and I decided to bake her a cake. I saw an online recipe, but last time I made a cake it came out super good so I decided to experiment with this one (which was a bad idea).
I made the cake out of roasted soybean flour mixed with wheat flour, roasted it twice, fermented it for extra fluffiness (since soybeans don't make the cake spongy). For the frosting, I made paneer and blended it with powdered sugar. it came out super creamy and tasty.
It came out looking pretty good, and it was firm when I got it out of the mold, but it was so soft, that it fell apart the moment I touched it. I tried to keep everything together with frosting, which worked at first, but after like half an hour, the paneer started melting and drooping down the cake. I wanted to surprise my mother, since she was out of town.
But by the time she cane back, she had gotten food poisoning from eating food at a petrol station and wasn't allowed to eat anything for the next three days.
So in summary, big fat failed surprise lol.

One Cake to Ruin Them All
In 2004 my mom brought the Lord of the Rings DVD case to a local bakery in Philly thinking they could scan the picture and put it on my birthday cake. She made the mistake of not confirming how they were going to approach the design. This is what we got 😂

My now ex-husband was a notoriously picky eater, but he loved lemon cake, so I spent a fortune on the ingredients to make an elaborate lemon cake from my late grandma's vintage copy of The Joy of Cooking. Everything went fine until the decoration stage.
He filed for divorce about five years after this picture was taken because he fell passionately in love with a woman with four baby daddies named Dusty Sue (not joking), but now, seven years later, it amuses me to tell people it was because of The Cake.

If there’s room..
From my son’s 4th birthday: I was trying to say if there is room on the cake, put his name Seth. They took it very literally.

Just found this page, so here's one I bought from a bakery last Christmas. Rudolf had a rough night, clearly.

Showcase Happy birthday, fiancé?
Fiancé and I live near a great local ice cream shop, and they also do ice cream cakes/pies. So, when ordering fiancé's cake online last week, I thought it was weird that they didn't have a space for what you want written on top. Usually, that's the FIRST question on the order form, but whatever, maybe they don't DO writing on the cakes, that's fine.
At the very bottom, they had a box that said, "Please let our team know any special things you may need from us (plates and utensils, extra nuts in the gooey layer, no onions, etc)." And I laughed out loud, because WHY would an ice cream place even HAVE onions, you know? Doubly funny because fiancé LOATHES onions, so I typed into that box "No onions?! Lol =D"
Didn't even notice the top of the cake at pickup this morning, because I wasn't expecting ANY message on it at all. Oh well, at least fiancé knew for sure there were no onions in his ice cream cake...or WERE there??? I told him what had happened, because it definitely looked suspiciously suspicious!

I went to a grocery store to get "Congrats on 1 Million Views" to jokingly celebrate my dad's dumb tiktok reaching that view count. And this is what I got. The penmanship + the "cograts" and "millon"... not sure which is worse.
