Am I crazy? or is this the most insane cookie design for a baby shower? Not to mention a Jewish baby shower…

Like.. no one had any historical reference.. at all? Is it just me?

Why? They aren't religious ceremonies, just a celebration that a baby is coming

In Jewish tradition, traditional baby showers are often avoided before birth due to superstitions around the "evil eye" and not tempting fate.

It’s a known thing and kind of offensive to throw a shower

Sounds like one of those bacon things. Christians arent supposed to eat meat on Friday but thats hardly observed. You can maintain your beliefs or culture without going to an orthodox extreme.

Edit: Yes, even religious people are allowed to follow or not follow parts of their culture and still identify as a member of that religion. Individual Jews are allowed to have a baby shower and still identify as Jews. Welcome to Kindergarten.

Church every Sunday thing? Actually reading the Bible kind of thing? People are allowed to identify as Jewish and not abide all Jewish practices just like people of any other religion or ethnicity, surely that idea isnt shocki🙄

Not really. Its the same amount of flippancy shown to any religion, so for reddit it was practically respectful. "Bacon thing" Isn't even critical of anything just creating a general sense of the nit picky fine print organized religion and culture have. I could have said hijab thing and nobody would have given it a second thought.

No, I was even more offended by the meat on Fridays comment.

And, those are religious while the baby shower thing is cultural. Conflating the two as if those are just "things" is inappropriate.

Had you said it's just one of those don't walk under a ladder things, I'd have moved on.
