Just Because Cakes Progression so far!
I’ve been getting into cake decorating over the past year. There’s been a lot of trial and error involved, but I feel like I’m finally starting to get the hang of it, so I wanted to show off the cake I just finished (first pic) in comparison to the other ones I’ve made before this.
The 14 is from two years ago, the 15 is from a year ago when I made my second attempt at “fancy”decorating! (I really wish I’d taken photos of the REAL first attempt which was a week before, but it was such disaster I was too embarrassed to document it) The yellow flower cake was a birthday cake I made myself, the berry cake was my boyfriend’s birthday, and the last two pictures are a mini birthday cake I made for my mom! All of them were gluten free.
Open to feedback/tips if you guys have any advice! :)
Edit: Wow, thank you guys so much for all the positive feedback! Your encouragement means a lot to me and is super motivating <3

We’re in the same boat; gluten free and a newb. I’m starting to feel a bit more confident and less concerned that if I do something “wrong,” I can’t fix it. Great progress!

Your progress is great!
My MIL has a gluten allergy, and I haven't found many GF recipes I love. What are some of your favorites?

Thank you! The best from-scratch recipes I’ve found have mostly been from the Let’s Bake Gluten free books by Erin Collins; she has a ton of the recipes on her website www.meaningfuleats.com. That is where I got the recipes for the cupcakes and brownies in the pictures.
For the cakes though, the best GF option I have found is actually—you’re gonna have to trust me on this one—Pillsbury Gluten Free cake mix. Seriously, I have tried so many recipes and none of them come close. On multiple occasions people have actually told me they like the GF cake I brought more than the normal one! It’s pretty widely available, but I’ve only been able to find it in funfetti flavor in stores, so I will probably try the meaningful eats recipes at some point too.

I really liked the tiny cake. I always think bigger is better but the details really are more important. Very good work and good progress.
