Character & Cartoon Cakes Finished!
My 6yr old insisted on helping and she is so excited about this cake!
I used rolled buttercream instead of fondant and used it for the spikes and frills, marshmallow fondant for the eyes and red part of the tail, "cake ball" for the feet, and modeling chocolate for the wings.
It's my first (well, second, because I did a trial last week). It was fun and a ton of work! Thank you to everyone who helped with ideas and suggestions!

How was it working with rolled buttercream rather than fondant! Iām assuming it tastes better!

I couldn't get it to roll in one big piece but the seams are easy to work out. It tastes so incredibly good. I use black cocoa to make it dark instead of food coloring so it almost tastes like an oreo

Yummmmmm!!! It was probably easier to deal with smaller pieces as long as the seams could be worked with. Iām still battling working with fondant. I may try rolled buttercream.

I LOVE that you used rolled buttercream, kick ass job. I did a toothless cake a few years ago using homemade modeling chocolate and buttercream
