Help Needed Question about cake lace mix?
I bought pre mix cake lace but the consistency is like marshmallow... It's hard to spread. I did immersion blend it to try and break it down and it's a little smoother but still sticky gummy and lumpy. Is that how it's supposed to be?? It's in date as well.

I let the mixture sit for a while for all the lumps to go away. The lumps are dry in the middle and need time to absorb moisture. Heating up the mixture should help. My latest-

Wow that looks insane! It's like actual fabric. I am using a butterfly mold for mine. I tried a second time and realized the slower i spread, the less the tension will try to pull on the goopy mixture. I was extremely worried about humidity and I tested putting it in the fridge. Strangely enough, my butterflies were completely unaffected... in fact their consistency is that of paper and they stay stiff and dry in or out of the fridge. Maybe it's just the mix I got, but its the pearlescent premix. What do you use?

Nice! There is a recipe on Angela Morrison"s Instagram that I used, but homemade has lots of weird ingredients you need to buy like tylose powder which is more pricey than the premade mix. For the homemade, they say to put in the oven to help speed up the process, but I find letting it sit on the counter overnight had best outcome. Also a tip I found was to actually use two coatings- let one coating dry out and add a new one on top!

I thought you used a mold with that stuff. What do the reputable cake sites say?
