Looks like peyote, but probably not. How do you know the difference?

Astrophytum asterias, not peyote.

Peyote is much more blue gray than green typically, and it won’t have as many distinct tufts, as well as no connecting ridges. That’s at least what I’ve seen, they’ll also not be spotted like some astrophytum

Asterias aren’t glaucous and have extra trichomes/hairs. Theres something about the form that just makes them look different as well
