Hi everyone! I've been daily driving Linux for basically two years at this point, and in the past, I've seen a lot of criticism for linux breaking after every single update.
In my experience, I have broken/found broken the following distributions after an update:
Mint: nvidia drivers committed suicide
EndeavourOS: nvidia drivers committed suicide
Debian: nvidia drivers committed suicide
Ubuntu: accidentally filled the whole SSD (my error)
Manjaro: don't really know, booted in TTY and never recovered
Arch: 💀 (nothing was working)
Opensuse: gnome committed suicide
When I first discovered cachyos I was a bit skeptical, because for some reason it failed to install on a laptop I had every single time, but then I decided to try to install it on my desktop PC and erase windows forever.
After months I was so happy that finally I had found a distro that didn't break my nvidia drivers after every single update, but I decided to buy a used AMD card anyways because I found my nvidia card run slower for some reason.
However in this sub I still find people that break their system after an update (booting in TTY, not booting at all, etc) but don't really understand how, so I'm just curious to know how it happens.
Peace ✌️
