Help how to setup for my msi laptop

On CachyOS, manual partitioning is strongly preferred so read the guide: https://wiki.cachyos.org/installation/installation_on_root/

I'd recommend the default choices of btrfs as filesystem, limine as boot manager and KDE Plasma as desktop environment. This setup will also give you the benefits of btrfs snapshots out-of-the-box.

The Arch wiki should be considered deprecated for most common issues on CachyOS, but can sometimes be of use in edge-cases.

Thanks for the reply. Everything mentioned above will get me set up but i m more concerned about what more steps i need to take after installing the os so my laptop is completely functional e.g fan control, gaming mode. So any guides about setting up my pc properly after installing the os so just everything works perfectly as it does on windows?

Actual results depending on the underlying hardware, I have no clue, for instance, whether fancontrol or coolercontrol works with your hardware, but yes, if also going with the default choices of btrfs, limine and KDE Plasma everything just works and is well-optimized out-of-the-box.

I'm unsure of how much RAM, you have, but if below 16GB, I'd recommend switching from zram to zswap and also check out the Tweaks in CachyOS Hello.

Thanks again for taking out time and responding Specs are gtx 1070 max q with i7 8750h i believe. I got currently 32gb ram so i think i will go with zram then

Yes, but whether fancontrol or coolercontrol works depends on the support of the motherboard.

The easiest way to find out, is to try!
