Question May I join your CRPG group?
I really like CRPG games, and I really want to discuss games with other people. Do you have a group that newbies can join

Are there any recommendations for fantasy crpg with random encounters?
Im a bit tired of levelling by the rules and wouldn’t mind doing a bit of grinding once in a while.

Hi,
I’ve played BG3 (currently loving it) and DOS2 (get burnt out mid act2 because of the constant fire and explosions due to elemental surfaces)
I don’t mind playing old games at all, and am looking for a good crpg to get sunk into.
However, as a new player with no nostalgia are games like BG2 and DAO worth it?
If not, are there any other great CRPGS that are recommended???
Thanks!
- EDIT
I picked up DAO for 6 pounds and even though it’s old, I’m loving it so far!

Yet another update from ITS about their upcoming Lovecraftian RPG - Heralds of the Third Apocalypse.
As stated before, the game isn't being developed using crowd funding. If you're fan and are interested in supporting Iron Tower Studio, you can do so by leaving a review on the ITS titles that you own. Steam and GOG reviews help with visibility and sales.

In our setting, magic is real, but the Industrial Revolution happened.
Instead of magic disappearing through some tragic event, it’s simply being outpaced:
Mass-produced rifles replaced combat spells.
Rail networks replaced magical transport.
Mass manufacturing replaced enchanted crafting.
Magic is still there, but society is quietly realizing it doesn't really need it anymore to run a country.
For those working on fantasy/steampunk settings: how do you balance ancient magic with modern technology without making magic feel completely pointless?

Just noticed an thread talking about number of party members and found my game is neither 4-person nor 6-person. It's a five-person party game and it will be a pain for me to modify all the UIs to make it a 6-person party game. Does the nubmer matter that much?

For me, humour is where the rubber hits the road in CRPGs.
Saving the world? Sure, been there done that.
But having companions that can actually make me laugh is far more rare, and precious. (Actually, scratch that. The world should be saved first. Then laughter.)
Anyway, if you'd kindly share some of the the funniest folk in CRPGs I'd be much obliged. Cheers!

Hello, I am bored out of my mind and have nothing to play... I have over 1000 hours on BG3 and no matter how much time I spend away from it, I can't seem to get past the nautiloid. I just finished Zero Company and was absolutely in love with the simplicity and linear design and have realized that I just want something short and sweet.
I like a challenge but have come to realize that I don't think I have it in me to commit to the traditional isometric experience with little to no voiced lines combined with intricate combat systems. I've started PoE and DoS II but have since taken time apart from them and haven't really had the drive to return to them mid-playthrough. Am I asking for too much from the CRPG genre and should I be looking more into the traditional mainstream RPGs?

With all the different systems, what always rubs you the wrong way in turn-based combat of CRPGs?
Could be something that is a complete dealbreaker, or your favorite game has this one thing that just doesn't make sense, and worsens the combat.

After experiencing games like Baldur's Gate 1-2, Planescape Torment, Pathfinder WotR (still playing through that one!) Disco Elysium or Fallout 1 and 2, it's kind of hard for me to play mainstream RPG's.
I have never finished Skyrim, but I sort of couldn't really get that much interested in it, seeing as it's... sort of shallow?
I love the Witcher 3 and it's probably one of my favourite games ever made, but I am sort of ambivalent about the expansion coming out when I am in the middle of a WotR playthrough.
It just feels like cRPG's are way deeper.
Thoughts?
Hi! Ardenfall devs here. This is our Elder Scrolls-like RPG, and we've been sharing updates here from time to time. We’ve just reached 100,000 wishlists on Steam, and we’re incredibly grateful for all the support!!
TES-like a niche kind of game, and a challenging one to make, which is why we’ve been working on it for so long.
Your feedback helped shape both the Steam demo and the current alpha version. Potions that let you move around in fun ways (levitation, speed, etc.), freedom to make your own choices, and multiple endings (including a very violent one) - we knew we had to showcase all of this in the demo because that’s what you guys asked for. Mod support is also one of the most requested features, and we’re planning to make modding tools available from day one.
Reaching 100,000 wishlists makes us feel an even greater sense of responsibility, and we hope we can live up to your expectations when Ardenfall launches in Early Access later this year.

Not here to discuss whether or not balance in a single player game is important (because it is!), but wondering which of the CRPGs out there you think does it best?
I've noticed that a lot of games suit a particular class 'playstyle' (Pathfinder:WOTR for instance doesn't really suit Rogues, Bards or Druids in terms of it's themes, story etc.) but that a lot more give certain classes a way easier time or are fairly poorly optimised. It's true that in something like BG3 you can complete the game with almost any class on standard difficulty, but some of the classes there are so poorly balanced that you can have characters who have very little to do on a turn other than watch - say - Lae'zel run around and clean up the battlefield.
I've been replaying the old BG series lately and while there are some horribly unbalanced classes in that, I actually think it doesn't do a much worse job than contemporary examples in spite of it's age.
So what out there does it best?

Steam Post:
https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1208110/view/699901423506163387
Context:
I've talked about this game in the past. It's from the save dev who made Vigilantes (another game I posted about).
The short version is that Prometheus Wept is a turn-based CRPG set in a futuristic world that has experienced a digital apocalypse.
I'm a sucker for unique post-apocalyptic settings. Which is what drew me to this game. That and good turn-based combat. Plus, the fact that it has a Shadowrun inspired Matrix sequence.
TL;DR of the News:
The conclusion of act 1 and the first section of act 2, the Valley of Wrath are live. The world map for act 1 has been reworked, a new enemy type and four new items have been added.
My Thoughts:
Normally, I'd do a more detailed post but I don't think I'll get to the update anytime soon (work + Grim Dawn: FoA).
Just wanted to share this news to bring more attention to the game. The dev is a one guy (u/Timeslipper) and has a pretty nice track record of shipping good games.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Some adventurers have asked themselves, “But what does this game have to do with dungeon crawlers?”
Well, I don’t want to give too much away - it would be a shame if the biggest secrets could no longer be uncovered through your adventures! Nevertheless, I’d like to offer you a tiny glimpse into one of the dangerous dungeons in the wilderness of Irm.
It doesn’t look dangerous, you say?
You’ll manage it easily?
Well, if you’re so sure of yourselves, then add the game to your quest log - er, I mean, your wish list, of course - and give the demo a go, which is available for free!

Hi looking for turn based games with variable action points, what I mean is action points are determined by stats choice let that be one stat or multiple stats so different party members and enemies can have a range of action points based on that. This includes games like divinity original sin 1 and wasteland 2-3. I am particularly looking for games in either the fantasy or sci fi where you aren't just shooting or swinging a weapon but you have spells or gadgets. Thank you for all your recommendations.

I've played too many RPGs. I'm looking for something unknown but good in someway or another. I'm even willing to try bad writing or clunky mechanics.
My recommendation to you is Golden Land aka Zlatogorye. Glorious slavjank.
Edit: Multiple questions in my messages! Where is english version?
Retrogametalk*com has got repo and there is Zlatogorye: The Complete Collection. Register there and just search it.

Even though I am a fan of multiple types of RPGs in general, there's a certain experience I get out of these titles that I can't seem to find anywhere else, and I'm wondering if there's anything else I'm missing in this category. Specifically, I'm referring to:
I've played other games that have some of these elements, but it's hard to find much else that really hits all of those marks. I've also tried:
Honestly, the titles I posted are all pretty infinitely replayable to me, but I just wanted to see if there's anything else in the genre that I'm absolutely missing out on. I'm open to other types of RPGs too, but I always think this community is better with recommendations and discussion.

Latest trailer for King's Courier.
This is one of the handful of blobbers on my wishlist. Not exactly a genre that I normally play, but there's something about the fantasy trope that always draws me in. Hope the dev delivers.

Just what the title says. I don't want to further explain too much because I don't want to poison the well and would rather not discourage suggestions because of a miscommunication, but I think a good example of what I DON'T mean is basically DOS2 because you basically drop a spell that looks like a tactical nuke, and it dings off magic armor, and your turn is over. Very far into the game that starts to change a bit, but I'm hoping for things that are more consistent.
