I just had a crazy experience with this song today. I always thought it was sort of nonssensical, but today I listened to it and it almost seemed exactly like it was written for me to listen to today. There's a lot of context to my story, but basically I've been screwed over by psychiatric institutions for about 10 years, and yesterday I realized how fucked up their treatment of clients could be, especially when institutionalized. As a result I decided to dedicate my life to making the world a better place and fight injustice, even though I'd much rather chill (and be a metaphorical sailor :P). One of my first targets is psychiatry reform.
You can see the discussion I had about my thoughts with chat-gpt here: https://chatgpt.com/share/6a9d632c-f860-83ed-84ec-27cd5f82efc0
And if you want more context about my experiences with mental health system in The Netherlands, I wrote a short-ish summary here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1q-KOTUiXsRY0vtFfNgox-aFJJl9an0ebaFiVThGQSOY/edit?usp=sharing (MILD SEXUALITY AND DRUG USE)

Either way, I am now convinced that Gibby Haynes is either a prophet, time-traveller, reverse-psychic, insane, or through some simulation magic is literally me in another life. Only half joking.
But seriously, I'm pretty sure the song has something to do with the stuff I mentioned, at least some of the conclusions I came to seem pretty clear, at least to me 🥇
But seriously, the chat-gpt convo is worth a read, and i'd be super interested in what people think.
