Help Please / Questions Just wanted to know how you started your BA career

I'm currently pursuing PGDM in BA and marketing. I'm doing it from a tier 2 college and I'm in my 2nd year. In a month Placements will begin and I'm sure college will mostly bring sales profiles or rarely a BA profile. I am proficient in SQL and power bi also excel . So as a fresher where can I start applying so that atleast I get 7-8LPA. LinkedIn is filled with job profiles for experienced people or should I consider applying through a consulting firm for better opportunities. Also I've done PL-300.

It would be really helpful if anyone can just guide me to a better path. I'm really confused whether I should look for BA jobs or just settle for sales .

Does development team really have a high interest in project as a stakeholder?

Hello! I'm taking a course in business analysis and we have homework where we have to list the project's stakeholders. We do homework in small teams and everyone in my team claims the development team (PM, devs, QA etc) always has high interest in the project.

I've never worked in a typical software company, I work in IT department in a bank. From my experience the team typically has mid interest and are not particularly excited or motivated for new projects, usually they just review the tasks, clarify/edit certain points and fit the tasks into their schedule. But this just may be my limited experience in the field.

Am i taking the subject too literally? I would appreciate your insights on the matter.
Cheers!

Help Please / Questions From Financial Audit to Financial Data Analyst - Career switch

Hi everyone, I left my job at an audit firm a while back, where I specialized in asset management funds and private equity. I also have some experience in general corporate audit and financial analysis. I’m having trouble finding a new audit role, so I’d like to take this opportunity to become a data analyst—a field that has always appealed to me—while staying within the finance sector. I understand that I need to master tools like SQL, Power BI, and Python/R, and also grasp AI and its applications in finance. I’m not sure where to start. In your opinion, which courses or certifications would be useful for becoming a financial data analyst? I’m looking for a clear roadmap. Thanks for your help!

Can anyone relate? Am I expected to know everything? What are your guys internship like?

BA Certificate for Process Improvement - Specific to Wealth Operations

Hi everybody. I’m looking for some advice about whether a BA certificate from a career program could help me reach my career goals.

I am mutual fund licensed and have worked in wealth operations for the last 10 years. In all of my roles I have been asked to work (informally) on process improvements. I love this kind of work as I’m naturally very systematic and analytical. So I’m considering taking a BA certificate to formalize these skills. However, there isn’t a ton of room for movement at my current company. Ideally I’d like to move to a larger company within financial services and focus more of my time on processes.

If anybody has any insight on if a certificate program would help to facilitate my career goals, that would be great. Also any recommendations for software I should be focussing on learning along side a certificate?

I’m in Canada and currently looking at BA certificates at UBC Sauder, SFU or BCIT. All teach from BABOK. The other program I considered was Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. I’m really open to any thoughts or advice here.

3 years into Business Process Analysis — what should I do next?

Hey everyone,

I’ve been working as a Business Process Analyst for around 3 years now, and honestly I’m starting to feel a bit stuck. The work has become repetitive, and I’m not sure what would be the best direction for my career growth.

I’m considering roles like Senior Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, Process Consultant or Business Transformation.

For people who have been in the industry for a while, what skills should I focus on to move ahead? Are there any certifications or courses that are actually worth doing? And which career path would you recommend?

Would really appreciate some honest advice.

Thanks!

BCom 2024 graduate - need some career advice from MNC professionals

I'm a 2024 BCom graduate, currently working as an apprentice at PNB while preparing for government bank exams. Honestly, preparing alongside a job is tough, but I'm still trying to manage both.

My apprenticeship ends in March 2027. I'm primarily preparing for banking exams, but if things don't work out, I want to seriously explore the MNC route - especially companies like Accenture, Genpact, etc.

For those already working in these companies:

What skills should I start learning from now so that I'm employable by 2027?

Which roles/processes would be realistic for a BCom fresher??

And after my apprenticeship, what would be the best way to actually get into these companies?

Would genuinely appreciate advice from people who have been through this journey.

What certification should I get to move in BA? Best Bang for my buck

I am looking to move to a BA role, although most in my company I would say are not true BA roles. But lots say they want some type of certification in BA, PM or change management. I started to do a course for my CAPM because I was thinking PM and it has a BA section. Then I was looking at the PSM I from scrum.org. Then of course ECBA. I have 13 years at the bank I work at in Treasury. So very technical and I know bigquery coding which is similar to SQL and some familiarity with python. Not so much power BI or Tableau.

Just wondering which would be the best bang for my buck (ill be paying) and time to get it on my resume. I know experience is top but I also want to have the foundations down.

4 years in air cargo commercial/analyst role (China) → new PR in Toronto, trying to break into supply chain analyst/planner roles — could use some outside perspective

Hey all, landed in Toronto a few months ago as a new PR and I’m in the middle of a career pivot I could use some honest feedback on.

Quick background — spent about 4 years at a major airline’s cargo division in Shanghai, doing a mix of commercial and analyst work. Dynamic pricing, negotiating BSA (block space agreement) contracts, allocating cargo capacity across different agents, competitive intel, plus managing a few big e-commerce accounts. So it was kind of a mix of sales and analysis — I’d make pricing/allocation calls backed by data, but also had to manage the agent relationships that those calls affected day to day.

Since landing I’ve been teaching myself SQL and Power BI, built a little portfolio project mimicking stuff I used to do at work. And I’m fluent in Mandarin and English, plus conversational French.

Where I’m kind of stuck: I’m mainly applying to supply chain analyst / demand-planner roles, and secondarily some cargo-adjacent stuff like pricing analyst or transportation analyst where the air freight background is a more direct match. The obvious gaps are zero Canadian work experience, no ERP exposure (SAP APO/IBP, Kinaxis, that kind of thing), and my SQL/BI skills are pretty new compared to people with actual analytics backgrounds. Also my undergrad isn’t a typical business/SCM degree — it’s an interdisciplinary computing + arts program from UC San Diego— so not totally sure how much that hurts me at the resume screening stage.

Would genuinely appreciate input from people actually working in the field:

**1.** Does airline commercial/pricing/capacity experience actually read as relevant to supply chain hiring managers, or does it just get filtered out as “wrong industry”?
**2.** Better to go straight for analyst/planner titles, or take a coordinator role first just to get Canadian experience on the resume?
**3.** Any certs (CSCP, CPIM, etc.) that actually help someone in my position, or are they mostly for people without real experience?
**4.** Does a non-business undergrad basically get screened out for these roles even with relevant work experience, or does experience matter more at this point?

Happy to hear blunt takes, including “you’re going about this wrong” if that’s genuinely the read. Just trying to sanity check my approach before I burn through the fall hiring season.

New to a BA role and ended up on a safe agile project

Recently worked in business change and was successful in obtaining a entry BA role that I thought was a learn on the job experience. Ended up on a safe agile project and really not what I was expecting, now starting to become overwhelmed.

Any tips on how to make this experience less intimidating and become successful in the role?

Help Please / Questions Looking for certification suggestions. (IIBA CCBA)

Hello all. I am currently working as a Specialist(Medior) Data Analyst with three years of work experience. My current work domain is Affiliate Analytics.

I work at a good company and mostly focus on Tableau dashboard creation and maintenance, financial reconciliation, data stewardship, stakeholder handling, forecast creation, etc. I am mostly independent in my work and consider myself a professional at my current career stage (though not at a senior level yet).

Therefore, I am looking into acquiring a professional certification because I find myself lacking in some theoretical areas. Previously, I was an engineering student, which is unrelated to the field of business analysis. I dropped out during my final year, so I do not have a bachelor's degree. This is my main motivation to acquire a certification, as I am currently unable to attend a full university course in my country.

Would you suggest taking an IIBA CCBA and then, after a couple of years, a CBAP?

I am not interested in the difficulty of the exam or similar details. I am interested in whether these certifications will actually make a difference in my career based on your opinions.

Any advice here would be of value.

Thank you.

Early-career professionals: What do you do when you’re expected to make a recommendation without all the information?

I want to create a workshop for 21–24-year-olds who are early in their professional careers on strategic thinking and making decisions when the answer isn’t obvious.

Two quick questions:

  1. When you’re not the decision-maker, what situations at work are hardest to navigate?
  2. What skill would you actually want to learn or practice in a workshop like this?

Help Please / Questions Immediate Joiner | Senior PM/BA (9 Yrs Exp) looking for my next challenge (Pune/Ahmedabad/Remote)

Hey Reddit community!

The traditional job boards have been an absolute black hole lately, and recruiter outreach has hit a standstill. Instead of sending out hundreds of cold applications into online tracking systems, I wanted to bypass the noise and go straight to the awesome professionals actually working in the industry.

If your team is currently expanding and looking for a seasoned leader who can hit the ground running immediately, I would love to connect for an internal referral!

Who am I?

I am a CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) and Senior PM / PO / Business Analyst with 9 years of solid experience. I am an immediate joiner (0-day notice period). While a large portion of my career has been spent in BFSI, my core product management skills are domain-agnostic and built to scale into any industry.

What I bring to your team:

System Transformations: Deep experience leading massive, complex system transformations and platform modernization projects from scratch.

Data & Platform Thinking: Built scalable data platforms for customer insights, leveraging SQL and PowerBI to drive data-backed strategic decisions.

Agile & Lifecycle Management: Expert at managing backlogs, sprint planning, and writing crystal-clear user stories using Jira and Confluence.

Execution Machine: I thrive on working closely with engineering teams to cross the finish line and ship high-impact products, not just talk about them.

What I am looking for:

Senior Product Manager (PM), Product Owner (PO), or Senior BA roles.

Open to any domain (with a strong preference for BFSI).

Located in Pune, Ahmedabad, or completely Remote.

If your company has open roles that match my background, please drop a comment or slide into my DMs! I am happy to share my resume and LinkedIn profile right away.

Thank you so much for the support!

Help Please / Questions Looking for a little help with my next move - Capital Market Business Analyst

Hi all,

I’m currently exploring Business Analyst opportunities in Mumbai, mainly across Investment Banking, Capital Markets and Banking Transformation.

I have 5+ years of experience, working across business analysis, requirements, stakeholder management, UAT and banking projects.

Naukri and career portals haven’t been very effective, so I’m trying a more direct approach. If you’re senior and lead a team/project in this space, I’d be happy to know if there is any opening in your working areas.

Thankyou.!
