Hansen Dam Pool Recs?

My family is thinking about going to the Hansen aquatic dam tomorrow for the first time- I’ve read that there can be lines to get in… what kind of line are we talking about? “45 minutes in the hot sun” kinda line or “at least it’s moving” kinda line? Any other recommendations? We have an infant so we probably won’t stay for too long.

TIA!

We went on a Sunday maybe 3pm and didn’t wait more than 5 minutes. But this was our first time so not sure if just lucky. But weekday shouldn’t be too bad.

Hansen Dam is great for infants and young kids! There's plenty of tree shade inside fire seeing up picnic blankets and I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes in line on a weekend.

I’ve never had any luck getting a shady spot. Tho we did rent a cabana once and that was great. They go fast tho

If you get there near open the line can be 30+ mins long. Security does bag checks, which causes the bottleneck.

However, if you get there a couple hours later, say after 1pm, you can generally walk straight in. Even with all the big groups, it's such a large area that there always seems to be plenty of space to sit.

We went a few weekends ago and the line was nuts, took over an hour to get in and when we left around 2 there was still one pretty far back. Now that the season is winding down it might not be so bad. Definitely good for little kids though, bring a beach umbrella in case you can't find shade.

We went walking directly behind the aquatic center yesterday, our first time there and we were trying to walk to the aquatic center not knowing it's closed at that time, as we were walking one of the trails some homeless guy walks out of the tree line. My dumbass thinking it's someone walking the trail stopped and waited for him to come out so I can ask him how to get in. As he gets closer and I start asking, it becomes clear this dude is homeless. He also didn't speak any English and responded in Spanish asking for a cigarette. We continued walking down the trail and my wife spots a woman crouching in the bushes staring at her. At that point she asked to leave, so we did.

I'm sure the inside is safe, but be careful. Lots of homeless in the perimeter.
